Mt Hope Cleaners & Coin Lndry
I've done my laundry a few times at the mt hope cleaners. Everytime has been relatively painless and quick. They have plenty of washers and dryers, so you rarely have to wait and if you do, never for long. The people who work there are extremely nice and helpful. Inside is nice and clean. There are several areas where you can sort and fold your clothes too.
PROS: Clean, spacious, many machines
CONS:
Scott Miller Salon & Spa
I've been to the Scott Miller salon for a haircut a few times and have been overall satisfied with the results. Definitely not the best haircut I have ever had, but definitely one of the best in Rochester. The only down-side is the price. Might be a good place to go if you are making a drastic change in hairstyle, or want some good styling tips, but if you are just in need of a trim here and there, it might not be worth it.
Blackfriars Theatre
The blackfriars thatre is a cute, small place to see various live performances. They put on many shows throughout the year. Overall, the theater is a nice setup. My only complaint is that the seats were slightly cramped and hard. Seating is very close together, but because of the extreme slant, every seat in the house is a good one. The actors we saw were amazing. The scenery brought the show to life. I would definitely recommend seeing a show here.
PROS: Good show
CONS: Uncomfortable Seating
Hobby Lobby
Millennium is a nice place for anyone into gaming. They have the latest RPG's and collectible games, and even some older hard to find ones. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgable. If you need help finding anything, chances are they will know exactly where to find it. They also have computers for online gaming. Small place, but full of content.
PROS: Nice staff, good selection
CONS: n/a
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra
The rochester philharmonic orchestra has been amazing every time I have gone to hear them. The theater is acoustically wonderful and there isn't a bad seat in the house. They pull in some amazing musicians and provide wonderful shows. They sell wine and drinks before the show and during intermission. Overall, it provides a nice night out.
PROS: great sound, seating
CONS: n/a
George Eastman House
The George Eastman House is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The house is amazing. From the details on the walls to the decorations, everything is an extremely interesting glimpse into the life of the creator of Eastman Kodak. Two of the rooms fascinated me. One was a room that served as his formal dining room for guests. The walls were even intricately carved with detail. The other seemed like a giant jungle. Upstairs has activities involving the first discoveries in photography and film. There is a gift shop and a theater to visit as well. Overall, provides a very interesting time.
PROS: Extremely interesting
CONS: n/a
Party City
Party city is a great place to go if you need decorations, costumes, party favors, etc. Their prices are usually very fair and they have an enourmous selection of things to choose from. The only problem that I have run into is that they usually almost completely run out of costumes near halloween. Maybe this should be expected with the demand, but several times, their costumes selection is decimated even weeks before halloween, while other stores wtill have plenty.
PROS: Huge selection, anything you could possibly need for a party
CONS: n/a
Rochester Text Book Exchange
The rochester text book exchange has proven to be an excellent place to buy used text books. Numerous times, the local school bookstore has run out of certain books, and I haven't been able to find them anywhere else besides the textbook exchange. They have amazing prices too. Now, it's the first place I look because the books are so cheap. The guy that runs the place is extremely nice and will help you find anything you need.
PROS: Great prices, selection, and staff
CONS: n/a
Rochester Sports Garden
The times that I've been to rochester sports garden, I haven't been impressed. The overall atmosphere of the place is unclean, unprofessional, and disorganized. It was unclear where certain areas were. The staff seemed like they didn't have a clue what they were doing. The batting cages worked fine, but were crowded, labels were confusing, and the token system they used was not needed. It seemed like it would be an okay place for organized league sports, but that probably depends on how organized the league is, because you definitely won't be able to count on the sports garden for that.
PROS: decent facilities
CONS: clueless staff, unclean, and disorganized place.
Island Tan
island Tan is a wonderful small place to go to tan. They have nice packages and good prices. The staff is helpful, nice and keep the place clean and sanitary. They have plenty of rooms, so it is always very quick to get in and out of. I have never had to wait for a booth. Their booths are comfortable and each has a personal radio.
PROS: Clean, uncrowded, quick
CONS: n/a
