Nuzzi Field
Nuzzi Field is one of the nicer fields in the area to play a softball or baseball game in. The field is well maintained and very clean. There is also a playground in the park that will keep the little kids enter tained if they are not interested in watching the baseball or softball games. Parking can sometimes be a problem, but it's not too bad is you don't mind walking a block or two.
Hudson River Park
This park runs along the west side of New York City and you can see the Hudson River at any point in the park. The park includes batting cages, mini golf and bike rentals. It also includes a free kyaking facility. A trapeze school is also on site.
Hempstead Lake State Park
This park is huge and has 20 tennis courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, bridle trails for horse back riding, biking and hiking trails, shaded picnic areas and a carousel. Be sure to try out the horse riding trails in the fall. The views around the lake are beautiful when the leaves change color.
Bryant Park
This place is perfect to go to to escape the business of times square and is just a block away from it. It's a great place to meet up with friends since there are plenty of tables and chairs available to use. In the winter there was an ice skating rink here that was free to use. From time to time free concerts are held here .
Madison Square Park
I went to this park for the New York City BBQ where reataurants from all over the county came to showcase their BBQ food. The festival was wonderful and the food was delicious. The park itself provoded enough room for all of the companies and for a stage for performances. There is a large grassy area for people to lounge and have a picnic. A "shake shack" sells cold drinks on hot days.
Agate Auto Services Center
I went to get my car inspected here last month. I expected to wait forever for my car to get inspected since it usually takes half a day to do this at some of the other places that I have went to. However, they surprised me and got the inspection done faster than I had expected. I even got a free pen at the end of the inspection.
Jones Beach State Park
Jones beach has everything. There are playing fields for several sports including volleyball courts. On the boardwalk there is mini golf course and pool house with two pools in it. As you walk down the boardwalk there are several restaruants, such as Friendly's. The beach is sandy and clean.
Elmont Road Park
This park has a baseball field that is nice and well kept. I went here to play a softball game. That day the weather was hot, but the trees did a good job providing shade. There are also handball courts, basketball courts, shuffle board, and game tables. Restrooms are also on site.
Cradle Of Aviation Museum
Learn about the pioneers of aviation. It's incredible that so many milestones in the history of flight took place nearby. There's an IMAX theater on the premises. Both older and younger kids as well as adults will be able to enjoy the museum. The location is good since it is near the Roosevelt Field Mall.
Long Island Children's Museum
This museum has plenty of hands on activities to keep little kids entertained all day long. Kids ages 9 and below will have a blast at this place. Once they are 10-12 they might not be into the asctivities as much as the younger kids. Older kids will probably like the cradle of aviation museum next door.
