This is an extraordinary family restaurant. I highly recommend this for the family, especially if they have children. The children will be very fascinated by the prizes that are given away in the arcade and they will LOVE the domed ceiling on the main floor and the astronaut that stands smack dab in the center of the floor. There is a bar for the adult and an awesome arcade for the kiddies. The machines spit out tickets that you can redeem for prizes by the entrance. There are certain machines that give you back your token and keep spitting out tickets over and over again, if you know how to do it correctly.
I LOVED the food there as a kid; I believe Space Aliens opened up about 11 or so years ago. Now, I don't particularly care for the food but I still play in the arcade even though I am an adult. It's the inner kid in me :). Oh, they have a great menu also. They really go all-out with how the items are named, etc. Good times.
WOW!!!!!!!!!! This is my #1 favorite Mexican restaurant. There are only a handful of Paradiso's in the state, so this is locally operated but statewide also.
Each and every one of their dishes is to die for. Divine! They have a VERY extensive menu. They are very good to everybody there by cooking their food with veggie oil I think. Something healthy like that. They also respect the vegetarians' wishes so there are quite a bit of vegetarian dishes. They have an extensive menu as well. It is a great place to eat out for your birthday, as you get to eat for free. Mmmm. Their food makes superb leftovers as well. Definitely recommend Paradisos.
I have been there only once, back in the summer of 2002. This particular location is quite a drive away from where I live, one of the reasons I am not able to frequent Roby's like I wish to. :( But from what I remember, a steak accompanies many of their dishes and they have great service too. Slightly upscale. Nice menu. Would recommend to anyone.
WOW!!!! This has to be the BEST upscale restaurant in Devils Lake! This restaurant is located right on the border of southern Devils Lake. The menu is simply divine. I recommend their chicken fettuicini. They do catering also, which is not surprising. Amazing food, did I mention that already? The service is great also. The food is somewhat on the expensive side but you definitely get your money's worth when you eat out there. Vicki Lawrence, of "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Mama's Family" fame, has dined at The Ranch and she loved the food. If you are craving some delicious steaks or a great upscale menu, The Ranch is the place for you.
There are three Krolls Diners within the Bismarck/Mandan area and the Bismarck branches are both pretty much like the one over in Mandan. Made to look like a 1950s-style sit-down restaurant. Nice-looking truck stop, if you will. All the Krolls Diners have one long room and that's it. Affordable menu, same food as the other three locations. Recommend it for a quick breakfast stop.
Jacks is actually a very decent steakhouse and very family-friendly as it is locally operated. Jack's has a great menu and is reasonably priced. Great service also. They do everything possible to keep their customers satisfied. I recommend Jack's if you are in the mood for some serious steak eating!!!! Mmmm!
They have a VERY small selection of items. The last time I was there, they only had a two-page menu. TWO MEASLY PAGES?? Keep in mind, this was ONE sheet of laminated paper with text on the front and back. This was not a large-sized menu. I received awful service the last time I was there. They say they are an upscale restaurant...Big joke!! Save your $ and go somewhere else where you will get better service!
I am sorry to have to do this, but their food is AWFUL. Simply awful! The cooking and hygenie (sp?) of this place is fine, but it really is not in my taste. TJ's is also a buffet-style restaurant and their pizzas as well as the food in the buffet, all taste funny. I will give them this, at least they have arcade games to keep the kiddies occupied and they made the restaurant to look like a 1950s style restaurant...Very cool. This restaurant used to be Pugsley's but all they did was change the name; the food is still the same. I would not recommend it to you, but it is up to you to check out TJ's.
This is just your basic buffet-style restaurant. It is located within the Spirit Lake Casino and it is preferable to go there only if you need a quick bite on the way to a show at the casino, or if you are gambling and need a quick bite. The food and prices are average, but they make a great potato au gratin. At least try the au gratin. :)
Superb local pizza restaurant. It's actually not local, but rather a regional chain within a few states. Still, it is like a local restaurant because I think Devils Lake has the only ND location in the region, heh. Anyway. Everything is homemade, I believe, much better-tasting than A&B Pizza in the Bismarck and Mandan area (see my reviews for both branches). One of their specialities is their garlic cheese breadsticks. Absolutely divine! Their toppings are far yummier than Pizza Hut (the only national pizza chain in Devils Lake), in my opinion. They are reasonably priced and the restaurant is buffet-style so you can just go get a slice or two of pizza and go back for more. Great for the whole family!
