Design 149

Chapel Hill, NC Clothing & Accessories - Women's 11/08/05: 'Classy and nice styled clothing'

Attending the University of North Carolina, its difficult to get around places to go shopping, especially for us girls who need to go buy clothes and nice dresses. I found design 149, and i go here alot to buy my stylish dress up clothes for parties and formal gatherings. The prices are pretty inflated, but the quality of the clothing and design is great. There are a couple of fitting rooms, and there are many sizes of each garment. They will provide alterations for clothing that need a little adjustment. Design 149 is both convenient and carries nice clothing for those students that go to Chapel Hill.

Crabtree Valley Mall

Raleigh, NC Shopping Centers & Malls 11/08/05: 'An upgrade from Cary Towne Center mall'

When shopping in the triangle, everyone knows that whenever you aren't satisfied with Cary Towne center mall, you can go to Crabtree Valley Mall. This mall is two floors and is constantly having newer stores. About four years ago, it was renovated, with nice marble floors and railings. The food court is large with more than 20 restaurants. The mall itself has more than 100 stores and has many large department stores; Hecht's, Hudson Belk, Lord and Taylor, and Sears. The mall and walkways is constantly being cleaned by its employees, so it has a very clean look. And when going to the mall, there is no need to worry about parking, as two new parking decks were recently added. Crabtree Valley Mall is the place to go for ANY shopping needs.

Our Lady-Lourdes Catholic Chr

Raleigh, NC Churches 11/08/05: 'Fairly large church with many masses'

Being a catholic, I attend church every Sunday. Lady of Lourdes is a fairly large church, and usually has many visitations by the Bishop of Raleigh. The church has seating on two floors, which sits about 400 people. Parents also have the luxury to a cry room for their loud children. Many mass services are provided, one at 7 am, 9am, 12pm, and 5 pm. There is also a spanish mass service at 3 pm. There are also many private rooms for private praying in the church. The priests also make available confession every saturday afternoon. This church is great for the lively, crowded mass services such as those at Easter, and Christmas. It may take some time to navigate through a neighborhood to find the church.

PROS: Large capacity church
CONS: Tucked inside a neighborhood

Blue Ridge 14

Raleigh, NC Movie Theaters 11/08/05: 'Low-priced movie tickets, but dirty'

Blueridge 14 Cinemas provide customers with the benefits of having movie tickets at the price of $1.50. Movies that usually have been out for a couple months begun to show up on blue ridge movie screens. This enables those that waited to see movies on the big screen that they didn't get to see before. In exchange for cheap movie tickets, the place is notably very old. The main lobby needs renovating, as the floor is pretty damaged. One important fact is that the seating in the theaters are regular, not stadium seating. I would recommend people to watch movies at bluedridge if they didn't want to pay the expensive $7 movie tickets for movies a couple months ago.

Club Oxygen

Raleigh, NC Bars & Clubs 11/08/05: 'Pretty lively, open to those under 21 too'

Club Oxygen is one of the more well-known clubs in Raleigh. It is open to those of at least 18 years of age, but they cannot drink unless they are at least 21. Many local radio stations also hold promotions and contests at club oxygen, enabling some to get in free and have great prizes. The music selection is great, playing very recent works. The place is well maintained and cleaned, and easy to navigate its facility. Its located in downtown, allowing for people to tour the night life after a long night at the club.

PROS: Well maintained, clean
CONS:

Claire's

Cary, NC Clothing & Accessories - Women's 11/08/05: 'One-story mall for all the stores you could want'

Cary Towne Center is one of the major malls in the triangle, and whats unusual about it is that it is all one-story. Except for the department stores such as Dillards, Belk, and Hecht's, the mall has no elevators or stairs as all the stores are on one floor. There is a fairly large food court, with chinese food, well-known franchises such as Burger King, And Chikfila and many other foods. Alot of seating is available in the food court too. Cary Towne Center also has many shoe stores, clothes stores, book stores, and even a video game arcade area. It is good to allocate at least 3 hours of your day to visit the vast array of stores this mall has.

PROS: One-floor, easy for the handicapped, Many stores
CONS:

Exploris- now Marbles Kids Museum

Raleigh, NC Museums 11/08/05: 'Good for kids, Imax good for everyone'

Going to the Exploris museum in downtown raleigh a couple years ago, it was pretty interesting, but it didn't extremely excite me. The exhibits and displays were handson and interactive, but some seemed as though directed to little kids. Being able to attend a movie in the IMAX theater was a great experience. The screen was so much bigger than a regular theater and the movie engulfed you with its picture and sound. There is also a little gift shop to buy souvenirs for those that visit the museum. Exploris is a great place for those little kids to have something educational to do, but the IMAX theater is great for everyone.

Capitol City Lumber Co

Raleigh, NC Lumber - Raleigh, NC Carpenters & Woodworking - Raleigh, NC Building Materials 11/08/05: 'Small selection of woods, and some at expensive prices'

My brother took a woodworking class at high school, and was in need of wood to complete his project he was working on. He wanted to purchase cherry wood so we went lumber shopping. The first problem with Capitol City Lumber Company was its location, it was difficult to find as it was tucked away on a small road under a major highway. After getting there, it took a while to be helped, about 30 minutes, but we finally were able to find some wood. They didn't have any cherry wood, so we had to find something that resembled cherry. Mahogany sufficed but it was pretty pricey. We were really in need of wood so we just purchased it. Though it took awhile to be helped and the wood cost alot, we were thankful that they could find wood that resembled cherry.

Lake Johnson

I have used Lake Johnson for many events, such as little birthday parties and cross country team training. The Lake has a trail that goes around the whole lake, good for jogging, walking, or biking. Waterboats are also available, such as canoes for fishing, and paddleboats. There is a snack bar for those that get hungry or thirst with items at pretty fair prices. Picnic tables are also provided for those that wish to sit down and eat peacefully. The only problem with the place is the availability of parking spots, there are only about 30 parking spots, making it difficult to find one when there are parties. Overall, Lake Johnson is a beautiful lake with many activities to do.

Kulp Dermatology Pa

Cary, NC Dermatologists 11/08/05: 'Doctor intelligent but impatient'

I have had many appointments at Kulp Dermatology for a variety of reasons; for acne, skin rashes, and warts. For my acne problems and skin rashes, they determined what the problem was and prescribed me some medications. For my warts, they had ways of removing in right there during the appointment. Dr. Kulp would tell me how he would remove it and how often, and would get impatient with my questioning how i contracted the warts. But overall my skin problems were solved.
