Sandcastle

Homestead, PA Amusement Parks 11/09/05: 'Be prepared to wait in lines!'

I have to say a day at Sandcastle is a lot of fun but the lines are horrible during peak summer hours! There are big slides for the older kids (and the adult kids..haha) and there are small water parks for toddelers and babies. You can't forget about the wave pool, the regular pool, the great food and even a boardwalk. Make sure you give yourself a whole day to spend there because you will need it!

Valentinas Pizzeria & Deli

West Mifflin, PA Delis - West Mifflin, PA Pizza Restaurants 11/09/05: 'Pittsburgh's best pizza'

No it really really is. I don't know what it is but their pizza is so good. Not to mention the cute names like the Tony Bennet and other stuff like that. They have all kinds of food from Deli cheeses and meats to pizza and Calzones (think Italian) This place is quite far from me so they don't deliver to my house so I can't get their pizza often but there are plenty of times where I am willing to drive over a half an hour to pick up the pizza myself!

Luigi's Pizzeria & Ristorante

Pittsburgh, PA Pizza Restaurants 11/09/05: 'The local pizza shop'

It seems as if this is the neighborhoods most popular pizza shop and there is good reason for that, their pizza is great! They just opened a bigger part of the pizza shop to accomadate more seating and the atmoshere is beautiful. They have nightly specials and the prices are reasonable without the specials!

Seven Springs Mountain Resort

Champion, PA Hotels - Champion, PA Golf - Courses 11/09/05: 'Not just a winter place'

You may think of a ski resort being a place for winter trips but seven springs has things going on all year long. There are hiking and biking trails, great ski slopes, cross country sking and sledding. If you are more of an indoor person seven springs has a bowling alley great resturants and an indoor pool. There is live entertainment in the bar and the hotel rooms are clean with a beautiful view!

Idlewild Park

This park does not have the thrill rides that a lot of the other parks have but it has so much more for the younger children. They have a great kiddie land which includes a trip on a trolley thru Mr. Rodgers neighborhood where you can interact with the characters. The water park is great and is included in the fee to get into the park. Jumping jungle is another neat attraction and you can't forget about story book forest, where you can see the three little bears house and walk thru the pumpkin from peter pumkin eater.

Kennywood Park

West Mifflin, PA Amusement Parks 11/09/05: 'The Best!'

There is nothing bad to say about Kennywood park. It has been there for over a hundred years and is still going strong. with one of the best wooden rollar coasters in the USA and one of the fastest steel coasters too. Don't forget to sample all of the food (esp the potato patch fries) and go to the haunted houses. Kennywood has a ton of them which you don't see at a lot of amusement parks.

Gateway Clipper Fleet

Pittsburgh, PA Sightseeing Tours 11/09/05: 'Why live on 3 rivers and not use them?'

I love doing the boat cruises in the summer. They have some great ones too. If you are looking for a romantic evening make sure to go to the dinner and dance cruise for a night of good food, drinks and dancing it is a blast. If it is an activity for the kids you are looking for the good ship lollipop is a sure hit. They also have holiday cruises and lock and dam cruises...check this out!

Monongahela Incline

Pittsburgh, PA Sightseeing Tours 11/09/05: 'This is a MUST SEE in Pittsburgh'

I think I went to the Incline for the first time as a chi8ld on a school field trip and loved it. I have been back many times since. Some people do actually take the incline to get up and down Mt. Washington for work and such but it is such a great attraction to take out of town visitors too. There aren't a ton of these left in the US so it is something special. Don't forget to take the kids who will get a kick out of the experience.

Phipps Conservatory

This is such a neat place to go and make sure ya bring the whole family! They have so many neat flowers on exhibit and at certain times of the year they have their butterfly exhibits where the butterflies just fly around the room. It is really nice! They have some strange flowers and when your all done there is a gift store where you can purchase some of those strange flowers and plants. A definate Pittsburgh must see.

Goodwill Industries

Pittsburgh, PA Thrift Shops 11/09/05: 'So-So for a thrift store'

I can't say this is my favorite thrift store but it isn't too bad. You may be able to find something you are looking for and get a good deal. They have some new dollar store items in the front so that is kinda nice. I just think they lump their items together too much. They will have all children's shirts for 2.95 well for a few that's a good deal but for the majority of them it is just too much. It is a place to stop and look around in but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
