When I returned from a trip, I took my film to Techlab Photo Imaging in Columbia because it looked a little more promising than regular photo processing places. I had so many roles of film that I joined their frequent buyer club in order to save money. I was happy with the results, but I expected a little more for the price I paid. I have gotten similar results from other stores for a lower price. Overall, I was happy with the experience, but in all honesty I have not returned because I have been able to find the same quality for a lower price elsewhere.
Party City in Columbia is your average party supply store. The merchandise is not always as neat as it could be, and that can make it difficult to find what you are looking for. They have a decent variety of items, but I can't always find what I am looking for and must go to the Party City in Laurel.
Cakes Plus is where I ordered my wedding cake from, and I think that is what I had the most compliments on at my reception (including how we all looked!). Most wedding cakes are dry and barely edible, but this cake was so good that even though we ordered twice as much as we needed, there wasn't any left at the end of the evening. The prices there are a little high, which is the only reason I did not give them a "world class" rating. Those who work there were willing to work with us, and they sell a variety of items for weddings and everyday cooking. If you are interested in doing a cake tasting at this business, you are welcome to, but you should call ahead to get a suggestion as to when they are the least busy. I would definitely recommend this business if you are looking for the best cake around!
Dr. Post was one of the first psychologists that I ever had. Even though I had no comparison at the time, I was not impressed with her abilities. She was so "by the book" that when talking to her it was more like talking to a text than a person. She often interrupted me mid-story to make sure I had paid her, and I never felt like she was really listening or interested in helping me. I would not recommend taking your problems to this doctor.
I have been taking my dry cleaning to Neil's Cleaners for years. The prices there are generally good, and they often have discounts for additional savings. I have never had any of my dry cleaning lost or damaged by the people who work there, and they will often try to fit things in if you are in a hurry. They will also do alterations there.
The Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church is located in a small, round building, surrounded by trees. It is a beautiful place to worship, and they invite people of different races, backgrounds, sexual preferences, and beliefs to join together to celebrate life and God. Additionally, on weekends, they rent out the building for wedding receptions, and I decided to have mine there. They did a wonderful job making it a beautiful place to have a reception.
Nags Head Bowling and Billiards is a good place to spend a rainy day or evening at the beach. It is sometimes crowded, but I have never had to wait very long for a lane. They don't boast the most up-to-date technology is some instances, but it is good enough for a good time. The last time my family was there, our lane kept having difficulty; it wouldn't always send our balls back, and then it would get backed up. Each time, someone who worked there had to come and manually fix it. When we went to pay at the end of the night, we were given a discount because of the inconvenience. The biggest complaint I have about this establishment is that smoking is allowed inside the building. As an asthmatic, I do not enjoy being around all the smoke that is generated by so many people in one place. If you can deal with that, though, this is a good place for fun.
Kitty Hawk Kites has many locations in NC, but the one in Kill Devil Hills is comprised of numerous stores that sell such things as kites (of course), clothing, fudge, souvenirs, and sporting goods. During the day, it is family-oriented. Those who work at the stores I have visited have always been very helpful; they even provided demonstrations with items you might not know how to use. At night, it livens up a little bit with slightly louder music, and since you can't go to the beach when it's dark, it attracts more people at that time. It is located across from Jockey's Ridge State Park, and you can go to the main desk at Kitty Hawk Kites to sign up for hang gliding lessons on Jockey's Ridge or Kayaking/Canoeing lessons on the sound. I would definitely recommend checking out Kitty Hawk Kites.
Savage Mill is nestled in the woods of Savage, MD, where not even all the locals are aware of it. However, once you have visited, you don't forget it. The stores in Savage Mill range from collectibles and unique furniture to antiques and grandfather clocks. It is a very nice building on the inside, and even though there are not that many shops, it is nice just to stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere. It's a little expensive for my everyday taste, but I have gotten some wonderful gifts for and from people from many of the stores. They also have a restaurant, a cafe-type area, and at least two ballrooms where wedding receptions and large parties are held. Overall, this is a very classy place to visit.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. My family has been vacationing in NC for at least 15 years, and we have never missed an opportunity to visit this restaurant at least once while there. The service is incredible; even when it is the middle of the dinner rush, waiters/waitresses are very attentive and helpful.Their food is the best we have tasted at any restaurant, period! You can order items cooked a special way if you are health conscious, or you can delight in the chef's specials of the day.It is the perfect place for families to relax and spend time together while eating great food.
