This is a real small place that is easy to miss unless you look for it carefully. It located between the H&R Block and Patu Thai restaurant in the Rice Village. Its amazing how many things they have in this small place. They have an amazing collection of arts and decorative items that me and my wife just love to look at. Definitely take a look.
Indian Sun Incorporated
The Indian Sun store calls itself a touch of Santa Fe. They have native american style decorative items. They have a large store right in the middle of Rice Village. They have an excellent selection and their prices are just right. If you have any interest in native american decor, do check them out. Its worth it.
Dual Electronics Inc
If you have equipment for 110 V and want to take it out of the country where they have 220 V power supply, take it to them and they'll find you a converter for it. Do you have a PAL format DVD that you want converted to NTSC. They'll take care of it. They also have a number of electronic items like TVs, DVD players, VCRs etc.
Craftex Wholesale Distrs
My wife went to this place with her business associate and she said I had to see this place. They have all sort of craft and decoration items and wholesale rates. They also have a great collection of coffee table books. A definite place to check out.
Weston Medical Center Apartments
I give it four stars instead of five, only because it is a little small. Other than that it is an excellent facility with two threadmills, two excercise cycles and weight training equipment. I was sold on the archstone brompton apt complex on seeing this facility.
Village Flowery
When I first saw this place, I was struck by the neatly decorated space. Situated right in the Rice Village, this is a nice florist shop. They have a good collection of flowers and topiaries. Yoou wont be disappointed here.
Brown Book Shop
This is the best place in Houston to find any technical book you're looking for. Their prices may not be as good as prices online, but if you need to have a book right then, this is the place to go searching.
Kalimba Co.
If you like to collect and decorate your home with curio items from around the world, you have to check out safari imports. They have an excellent collection at very reasonable prices. They are located in the Rice Village, which is close to my home. THis is one of my favorite places to visit.
Houston Zoo
The houston zoo is located nicely in one corner of the herman park near the museum distict in houston. It is a pretty small zoo compared to the more famous ones in other cities. They have quite a good collection of animals from all around the world, but I think they can do better in terms of landscaping to suit the habitat of the animals. They do have special events during holidays, and while they're fun, parking is a huge problem at those times.
Country Rose Garden
I usually shop at the flower garden in this stretch of Fannin with many florists. Once I took a wrong turn and ended up here. They did not have as good a selection, and their prices were higher than the flower garden. I'll make sure I go to the flower garden the next time.
