If you live or visit Houston, and you like visiting museums, make sure you check out all the museums in Houston's museum district including Museum of Fine arts Houston. They have a fine collection of art, and they have regular events at the Brown Auditorium. They also have special exhibits every once in a while. I was there when they had the Star Wars exhibit including original models and clothes from George Lucas' collection. It was awesome.
The Apartment building is pretty new and nice, and they have a good pool, but other than that, I wouldnt want to stay there again. For one, my car got stolen when it was parked inside the gated community here. The management is allright. They are unneccasarily strict about trivial matters like the color of the curtains and christmas lights.
I first got to know about the Ashtalakshmi temple at an Indian cultural seminar, where the presenter spoke about this new temple to be opened in Houston. Houston already has a number of Indian temples, but what sets this apart is that they teach you to perform the pujas yourself than having a pujari or a priest perform it. The pujas are right now performed in a trailer as they wait to build the actual temple structure, but it is a place to be checked out.
The Durga bari is a north Indian style temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is a big complex situated out of the way at highway 6 between Richmond Ave and Bissonet. They have a huge hall that they rent out for cultural events and activities. It is a little tough finiding the location, but do check it out.
Their speciality seems to be Industrial batteries, though they do carry batteries of all sorts for everyday use. They also do watch battery replacement. I had gone there to get my watch battery replaced, because they had a store opening special of free watch battery replacement. I suppose everyone had come there for the same purpose and I had to wait for quite a while to get the battery replaced. If you want any type of battery and dont know where to find it, there's a good chance you'll find it here.
I visited Book Warehouse in Lamarque during my visit to the outlet stores there. They have a number of interesting books at marked down prices. I saw a number of interesting coffee tables at less than half price. The lady at the store was very polite and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place to a book lover.
I've gone there a couple of times when I used to live in that area. The selection is limited and I've got a good deal on books there sometimes. But I have a better chance of finding the exact book I'm looking for at a better price at the half price book store.
Dr.Tjoa, Dr. Kimberley and Dr. Leilani are great people to have work on your teeth. I had to have my teeth deep cleaned and they did the job very well. I watched a movie while they worked on my teeth and the time just flew away. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.
If you're planning to fly to India, go to Krisbi travels and ask for Hamid. He is efficient and will give you a great deal. I've never had a problem with them, and some of the other 'travel agents' do get their tickets booked through him.
If you need some asian groceries and even some indian vegetables, this is the place to go. This place and the other one on Bellaire outside the beltway have a good variety of oriental groceries and products. The prices are also very good. Check it oout sometime!
