RIT Music Central is the best place to go for all your musical instrument needs. My brother plays the guitar and new equipment and tabs are always a great gift to give him. However, I don't know anything about the guitar. So, I go to RIT and they always help me out. The guys working are always very nice and helpful. They NEVER make me feel stupid for not knowing what I'm looking for, and never make me feel like I'm a pain. They have a great selection of guitars, drums, music, picks, amps, and other equipment and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend RIT music for all interested in music.
The Kuttin Krew is a cute little hair salon that specializes in giving good haircuts at a very reasonable price. The women working are always very sweet and so willing to help out wtih whatever you need. Walk-ins are welcome, so anyone can just stop in and get a haircut whenever nesessary. Obviously the styles aren't going to be comparable to a major, well-known salon, but for anything basic (I go to get my hair trimmed) it is nice to not have to pay so much for just a trim. They also have cheap tanning!
I highly recommend going to the Hairacy for anyone. I love going there. The atmosphere is very friendly and comfortable, and the women working are very patient and talented. I got may hair done before my prom at the hairacy and was really pleased with the results. My stylist made sure that everything was exactly how I wanted it, and didn't stop until I was completely satisfied. The prices are very good, too.
EMB Image Studio is a great place to treat yourself to a good haircut. The stylists are very up to date on what is trendy and what would look good for each person. The prices are competitive with other places in town, which is good. While the haircuts are great, the hair styles are great too. Before a dance, wedding or other special event, I recommend checking out EMB for fashion updo's. I really enjoy the feeling I get going in there--like they appreciate my business so much!
The Vineyards is a nice store with a huge selection of wine and beer. Everything is labeled nicely and easily for those who aren't knowledgeable about such things. The store is always clean and orderly as well. However, the employees are terrible to deal with. They ignore you when you walk in, ignore you when you're shopping and are rude when you pay. So, if you don't care about customer service and want a great selection of wine, this is the place for you.
Ripe is a very unique clothing and accessories store in the heart of Eastown. They carry really great clothes that you cannot find anywhere else. I really enjoyed all the shoes that they carried (I love shoes) because I had never seen any of them before. They also carry fun little gifts like books, journals, keychains, notebooks, jewelry, purses, wallets and more. The prices are kind of high, but you aren't going to find these items anywhere else, so it's worth it.
The Grand Rapids Art Museum is a nice way to spend a few hours of your time. I love going to art museums, and this one features both local and out of area artists. The staff was very friendly both times that I've been to the GRAM. I think for such a small city as Grand Rapids, the art museum is really nice. The admission price is reasonable (cheaper for kids) and is worth the price.
I love shopping at world market for gifts and for myself. They carry amazing and unique items from all over the world. From bedding to bath accessories to kitchen and furniture, there is little that is lacking at world market. My favorite thing is the food pantry. Foods, beverages, teas, coffees, and an impressive wine selection from all over the globe makes for fun and exciting shopping. The prices are very reasonable for such quality goods.
I was pretty excited when the new balance store went in near the mall, but was disappointed when I went in. The store carried MUCH fewer shoes that I expected. I've seen more women's shoes at a general athletic shoe store. It was hard to figure out what shoes were designed for what activity. I didn't buy anything that day, but because I love the new balance brand so much, I may go back to special order what I need, because they probably wouldn't carry it . The prices were retail--no sales--but there were a couple of clearance tables to look through.
Charlotte Russe is a very cool clothing store that carries bohemian and other unique clothing items for a reasonable price. They have lot to choose from--including very casual wear and some that are more fancy for a night out. Some of the sizes are a little disappointing (it's a size two's dream store), but the sales staff is very friendly and willing to help with whatever you might need.
