The Colorado History Museum is conveniently located near other notable stops (Art Museum, Capitol) and is a great way to understand more about Colorado.
The Denver Art Museum can have some good rotating exhibits and the new building will be a wonderful addition. The cafe is a cute stop for lunch. Worth checking out.
The Denver Center for Performing Arts always has interesting and entertaining selections. Plus, the tickets aren't too pricey. It is worthwhile to check out their performances.
Crate & Barrel has trendy, stylish home furnishings. Plus, the time I went they had excellent customer service - they wrapped up my gift that I bought and made my shopping experience so easy!
Pier one has great home-furnishings with an international flair. They have lots of baskets and container things that can be helpful for stashing away things. It is worth checking out if you haven't been there.
If you are a runner, you know how important it is to have the correct shoe. The Runners Roost will fit you for the right shoe for your gait. The prices are higher, but you will have less pain if you wear the shoe they suggest.
Why go to Whole Foods or Wild Oats when Sunflower, an independently-owned grocery store in South Denver, is cheaper? They have a great selection paired with wonderful prices. They have great organic, natural, and bulk items.
Samadhi Center for Yoga is, aesthetically, my favorite yoga studio in Denver. The minute you walk in the door, you dont feel like you are in the middle of a strip of shops. It feels like you have stepped into a little escape. The yoga classes are challenging and interesting. Plus, they have a wonderful variety of classes. They additionally offer seminars and special events.
This isnt the place to go if you want an easy, meditative yoga class, because these classes are a work out! I loved it! Who said yoga was for grandmas? Certainly not anyone at Samadhi. Youll get a fabulous work out in a beautiful spot.
The classes arent cheap (almost $15 for drop in classes), but they at least USED to have classes where you could just pay the amount you could afford. Also, I believe that your first class is free and they offer a good deal of approx $70 for a month of unlimited classes.
Argonaut Liquors is the Wal-Mart of Liquor Stores. Conveniently located on Colfax in Denver, it has one of the largest selections of liquors, wine, and beer available in Denver. Additionally, the prices are great! A bottle of wine that is $20 at a local wine bar, $12 at a different liquor store, was only $7 at Argonauts. Additionally, they have lots of wines from around the globe. For instance, they have a nice selection of South American (Malbecs) and Australian wines. This place is always packed, but they seem to make check-out go smoothly with lots of cash registers.
A trip to Argonauts is worth it to stock up on your favorites. I will note, though, that this isnt the place to go if you are looking for a neighborhood wine shop where the local wine expert will always recommend something new to try. This is a better place if you know what you want and what you are looking for. I havent noticed a lot of assistance in selecting wines when I have been there (although, I must admit, I havent tried to ask).
The Tattered Cover is by far the best bookstore in Denver. First, it is a wonderful hang out spot. It has that feeling of familiarity and comfort as soon as you walk in, with a coffee shop, tables to sit at, and hand-printed signs indicating books of note. Secondly, it has just about any book you could want, and if you cant find it they will find it. It definitely has the most extensive selection of magazines in Denver (tons of foreign or specialty magazines). One complaint is that they do not have used books. Sothey have one area to work. But, they do have a bargain section.
The Tattered Cover is located in downtown Denver in LoDo and there is another one in Cherry Creek. I believe there may be one in Highlands Ranch as well. If you go to the Cherry Creek Tattered Cover, you can park for free in their garage with a proof of purchase.
