Regent Cafe
Clientel (sp?) here are mainly of Asian decent. You'll find a variety of food and drink here and will be pleasantly suprised to find that it's pretty good. Service is a bit slow and is best if you call the waiter to get what you need. The chances of them stopping at your table without you looking is low. The prices are a great value compared to other restaurants and the quality of the food sometimes is hit or miss unless you know that they make a certain dish good. I can't think of any this moment. I would recommend however their prime rib combined with pasta and a lemon ice tea to complement it.
PROS: Open late nights
CONS: Service is a bit sketchy
Crepe In The Grip
The only shop that serves up the same stuff is located in Rowland Heights off the 60 about 20 miles away and this shope is comparable to that one. The variety they offer is better and the crepes they make are soft and very pliable. Parking is a tad bit hard to find here but is well worth it. The fruits they offer are of the freshest quality that I've had in a crepe and their ice cream is also great. I gave it a rating of three because this isn't something that is particularly impressive but for the price it's well worth it to give it a try. You'd be hurting yourself if you didn't
La Vie
Food is very comparable to any French restaurant in Pasadena and service is just as good. The food here is in a word magnificent. They offer only the best quality foods here. If you feel daring try the rabbit, hey it only tastes like chicken ; ) Prices are similar to those found in Pasadena so look to spend at the least $12 per entree. Includes soup and salad and I'd suggest the Creme Brule for a desert. Let them know in advance as it takes an extra 15 minutes to prepare. If you're going to go making a reservation in advance isn't a must but it's best when any special holidays are coming up such as valentines day.
PROS: Good food and a very nice ambience
CONS: Location isn't in the ideal of areas about 0.3mi south of Garvey Blvd
Juice It Up!
with jamba juice always serving up the weirdest combinations of fruits and juices Juice It Up serves it up right, in my opinino at least. They have great service esp. at this location. This local is a bit hard to find as it is north of the colorado blvd and right before the 210 fwy. Maybe it's my personal preference but JIT is much better than JJ because I like their flavors better than JJ and their combinatins of flavors is great. More vibrant than the plain jane JJ.
PROS: Better than JJ
CONS: Hard to find this local and few locations vs JJ
In-N-Out Burger
There is no doubt that In-N-Out makes the best burgers this side of the coast. What some people don't know is that you can order burgers larger than their famous Double Double. You can go 3x3 and 4x4 up all the way to 20x20 (its in a magazine if you dont believe me) but each patty up costs a little bit more. Their milkshakes are the best compared to anybody and their fries aren't soaking in oil. A good combonation would be Any burger animal style with animal fries (topped with grilled onions, spread, and cheese) with a soda of your choice and you're locked and ready to go.
PROS:
CONS: Peak hours and best burgers = long wait time but it's well worth the wait.
Cafe Bizou
I found out about this restaurant during a walk around of "Taste of Old Pasadena" and their samples had me hooked. One entree I'd recommend is the Lobster Spaghetti. To sum it up in one word: perfect. The service is exemplary and the dining area is low lit but enough so that it isn't hard to see. Of course at any restaurants ask for their specials as those seem to be the best compared to anything on the menu. This isn't a place I'd say I would be coming to every other night for dinner but 3 or 4 times a month would be my maximum as the price is a bit up there. Look to spend at least $40 for 2 people. You'll be in for a treat and I can recommend their stuff mushrooms and lobster ravioli.
PROS: Good atmosphere and great food.
CONS: Price, but only for some people.
Mi Piace Italian Kitchen
I've been a fan of this place for the past 3 years and their breakfasts are especially good. After they remodelled they have an expanded area for drinks and eating. If coming to this restaurant do look at the menu first but ask for their specials. Whenever my girlfriend and I go here I sometimes dont get specials and she does and I'm the one eating off of her plate. Any fish specials are what I can recommend as all their fish platters that I've had a chance to taste are a treat to my palette. Prices are a bit high I'd say in the $40+ for 2 people range but well worth the price. They also serve a GREAT breakfast omellette.(sp?) so if you have trouble deciding on where to head for breakfast think of Mi Piace first :)
PROS: Specials are always better than what is listed on the menu
CONS: None.
Thai Patio
This place is GREAT. Their flavor is dead on with their Pad Thai. Any time I go to a Thai restaurant I always get Pad Thai the first time. The atmosphere is great and they have a singer on stage some nights which is awesome. Live music is a plus. I can't comment on prices because I dont know what other restaurants in the surrounding areas serve thai so I can't comment on that. Their soups are also somethign to put on your checklist when going to this restaurant.
PROS: Great food and atmosphere
CONS: none.
President Thai Cuisine
I've heard nothing but good things about this restaurant before their remodelling but I never got a chance to go to them until after their remodelling. Many people have told me what a good restaurant they are so I decided to go to this restaurant after they re-opend their doors. I've gone twice since their remodelling and my expectations might have been to high going into this but it's not what I expected. Their service is somewhat questionable as the majority of the workers are either late teens or early 20's from what I can tell and they are a bit slow. The eating area is quite small so a lot of nights the parking lot is packed and bursts out into the streets. Wait times sometimes are more than 30 min. which is not what I'm willing to wait. There is also an outside eating area in a small alley way to the left of the if you're willing to eat outside. The flavor isn't what I expected as well but the majority of it's customers were American people so maybe it's tailored to their pallette. Prices are reasonable
PROS: Good atmosphere
CONS: Wait time on busy nights can exceed 30 minutes
Green Street Restaurant
What can I say about Green St. except that they have exemplary (sp?) service. The service is excellent and their zuchinni bread is the best i've ever had. The price is a bit expensive but it's well into the "you pay for what you get" category. They specialize mainly in salad and I can recommend the "Green St. Salad" which isn't listed on their menu but you can request it, pair it up with your favorite dressing (mine is 1000 island) and you've got a great salad for lunch and possibly dinner if you can't finish.
PROS: Fast service and good environment to be in.
CONS: During rush times wait times are a bit long.
