The selcetion of quality educational materials and toys is fabulous. I recently went to return some items. Unfortunately they don't offer a full refund, but you can exchange items. I took my husband with me and he spent lots of time looking at all the things he would have loved as a boy - microscopes, forensic kits, dinosaur models, etc. I thought my trip would be quick - well we left having spent more on toys for him than I had brought in to exchange, which is the mark of a good store.
CONS: No refunds. They only exchange items.
The prices were reasonable and the food was tasty. We went for luch, but they were still serving breakfast items so we had eggs and sausage with potatoes. It was delicious. I liked the atmosphere. The inside had a lot of flowers, floral fabrics, white washed furniture, and a chandelier. It was trendy, but cute. I like its location downtown, very convenient. I would recommend.
If you live in the Garden Home area, this place is very convenient. It has all the staples, but the food is a bit on the pricey side. If money is no object then this place is fabulous. They have great customer service and a friendly atmosphere. Also, as a side note, their french bread is the best. I don't buy mine from anywhere else.
I love the feel of this place. I love how Mcmenamin's takes historical properties and turns them into profitable businesses while retaining the feel of the place. In addition to a great restaurant, this place has many extras. They have a hotel. They have a movie theater. They have many artists studios on site. They have a great nine hole putt and pitch that my husband went to for his friend's bachelor party. I love it here and love what McMenamin's does. All of their properties are so neat. The bars here are cool, especially the Little Red Shed. Great place for dinner or for a leisurely afternoon spent exploring the property and all it has to offer. Love the food, love the brews, love the extras!
I love this supermarket. I used to shop at other stores. Not any more. The money I save here is amazing. They simply have the best prices around. They have all the brand names that you can find anywhere else, but cheaper. You bag your own groceries, which I like. It makes me feel like I am helping to save myself money. Their bulk foods section is great - especially the prices. I can find everything I want here from laundry detergent to papertowels to all my food items. Simply the best! Also, when I first moved to Portland, hardly anything was open 24 hours a day. This place was and is. I love it.
PROS: Open 24 hours.
CONS: Crowded at certain times - Sunday evening can be brutal.
I liked how spacious the restaurant felt. We went in the afternoon, so that might have had something to do with it. I think there were only four other parties dining at the time. The food was pretty good. The prices were a bit heavy on the wallet for decent-but-not-spectacular food. I liked how we sat near the windows which looked out onto a tranquil pond. They were pretty slow in refilling drinks and getting our check, but overall I'd say the experience was decent.
I love this restaurant and it is one of my favorites. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Also, as it is located in a mall, it is convenient when running errands. I love their clam chowder. It is definitely one of the best I've had in Portland. Thick, creamy and chunky, it is served the way I like it. A few tips - ask for a booth or at least make sure they don't sit you in the atrium room - the service is much worse out there as it is as if like they have forgotten you exist. Also, get the marion berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream for dessert. It is sooooo good!
PROS: Good prices and good food.
CONS: Funky 1980's photos on the wall.
I love this bookstore. It has the greatest selection of books on any topic. My friend found an entire section devoted to books on Hungary - her specialty. If they had that, then they'll have what you are looking for. It is easy to spend several hours here without realizing it. I always come out with way more than I had planned to purchase. The staff is knowledgable and friendly.
PROS: Amazing selection.
I enjoy this restaurant everytime I go. The atmosphere is laid back and I like the booth style seating. (Lots of booths with some table seating for larger parties.) They make some of their own brews here and the beers are pretty tasty. I get the spaghetti and meat balls everytime and my husband usually goes for a personal pizza or the fish and chips. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely one to try.
PROS: Good food. Good prices.
Yes, this place is quirky as the other reviewer noted, but my husband and I love it and frequent it often. Why do we love it? The mac and cheese is out of this world. The food is cheap. We like the funky atmosphere. We always take our out of town guests here and all have loved the experience. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something different. Also, they do take credit cards now.
PROS: Inexpensive. Yummy. Takes credit cards now.
