Museum of Holography needs to be seen! It's really a new and unique experience that I haven't seen elsewhere. Their presentations and exhibits are really a treat to the eyes. Some of their presentations require 3-D glasses where you can look at things that 'jump' out at you. Everything is just presented so well! All exhibits (even the non-3-D ones) are beautiful and well-made. The entire museum is spacious and clean, I was impressed with how well the janitors clean up this VERY large museum. For adults, they offer things to read that are very informative and interesting, I enjoyed these very much. Guided tours are available but move fast and fill up fast because of the number of people and the amount of space to cover in an hours tour. Prices are fair, to get inside, the price is good and well-worth it. It does cost money to go on a guided tour and it is in my opionion, not worth it. They move too fast and you can't really stop and read things or take a better look at presentations cause they are constantly moving at a high-paced speed to show off as much as they can in the 1 hour tour. Still, the helpful and entertaining employees and tour guides make this museum even better. I give it my highest recommendation, you need to go inside and see for yourself how feastful this is for the eyes!
Oak Park Library is beautiful to look at and be in. Their facility is well kept and very, very large. It's two stories tall and both floors are vaccumed frequently and cleaned constantly. I was impressed. Their selection of books is also very good, since they have been around for a long time, they have built up quite a library of books. Their selection of books for adults is amazing, and chances are, you'll find what you're looking for. Their search system on their computers is easy to navigate and is accurate. Everything is organized well and there is hardly a book out of place! I was dissapointed with two things though. Some of their older books are in poor condition with tape holding everything together and some have a rip here or there and one book had a page missing, but it isn't that bad and most of the books are in good condition, but the selection few which are not, are for the most part still readable. The employees also aren't very helping. If you ask them a question that requires them to get up and look for something, they will usually shuffle you to another library which is time consuming and an annoyance. Still, their wide selection in their large clean facility more than makes up for it! Recommended!
Contienental Cleaners is good for the most part. Their facility is very large and clean, they offer a wide variety of machines throughout the store so, you won't have to wait for someone to finish. While there are some 'older' machines, most of them are newer and work great and can usually finish the washing and drying cycle in about an hour and 15 minutes. Not to shabby. Price is great, it's very affordable especially for the quality job that is done by these machines (even on the older ones). Employees on the other hand are nothing special. They will constantly be talking on the phone or reading something and do not want to assist you. They want to be left alone and if you try to ask a question, they will often snap at you and told you to hold on. This kind of behavior is not acceptable and it really hurts any otherwise good cleaners. Decide for yourself, if service does not mean much to you, then this is a great cleaners with a quality wash and cheap price point. If service is an important factor, go somewhere else.
Collins Plumbing Company is just okay. Nothing is that amazing. Their store is small and limited and very dirty, but you can't buy anytihng inside, only schedual appointments, so, that can be forgiven. Employees at the counter are okay, not too social, but will get the job done and schedual an appointment flexible to the days you can have them available. For the most part they are open a lot and can send someone over on days/times you are available. However, they will come late. The two times I have done buisness with Collins Plumbing they have come rather late. For example, I was expected to see someone around 1-3 PM, he came at 3:15 PM. The plumbers are for the most part really good. They do spend a lot of time fixing things, but that's a part of the job I'm assuming. The plumbers aren't very talkative or social. They usually just what to know what needs to be fixed and they fix it on their own. Both times, they got the job done and I haven't encountered any problems. They are a little iffy on explaining what happened because they do use big terms and words that (for someone like me) can be hard to understand. Still, they did a good job and billed me both times quite a PRICE! It was VERY expensive, but they got the job done, so, I was pleased. Their pros and cons seem to even each other out, so, 2.5/5 or...3/5.
The Learning Post offers a wide seletion of school related items for teachers and students. For teachers, they offer posters that range from math to english all of which are well-printed with friendly characters, helpful and organized diagrams, and easy to read text. They look great and work well in the classroom. For students, their selection of backpacks and basic school supplies is expanding and is overall, very helpful especially if you need an item for a school project. Everything is priced reasonable well and there are a lot of deals to be found inside. For kids, there are a lot of interactive demos inside that involve science involving magnets and such. They sell a lot of science toys for the kids as well involving magnets, building, and puzzles. All are great for learning. This is a great shop that parents, teachers, students, and kids can enjoy! Stop by sometime!
'Camp Extreme' despite the rather cheesy name is actually pretty good. Their location is great, secluded from the city lights and noise, so, you can get a nice quiet camping experience in the wilderness! The main cabin, is toasty and warm and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Prices are very fair and affordable, and they offer you the choice of a 'high tech' cabin or a 'bare bones' cabin. The differences include eletricity, tv, plug-in outlets, and a fireplace. I really liked how they offered this. We chose the bare bones cabin which was quite pleasent. It was a lot of fun and easy to find. The beds were uncomfterable and we needed to clean our cabin before settling in, but it was still a lot of fun. During the night it was nice and peaceful. They offer breakfast and dinner (which are both quite tastey) for a good, reasonable price. It's worth checking out. It's a lot of fun, although I suggest bringing some pillows for comfort as I woke up with a VERY sore back.
Lizs Bird Shop is a great shop, it's filled with all kinds of exotic birds from the usual (parakeets, budgies) to the not so common (parrots, conyueers). These birds have huge cages to house them, so, I was impressed with the treatment of the animals they had for sale, but the store manager cares DEEPLY for her birds, so, if you are going to buy one you have to follow a strict set of guidelines including a very large cage and nutritional (high priced) foods. Still, if you aren't looking for a bird, you can get book feed, accessories for the cage, and other helpful items for a fair price. The prices for the birds are not a problem. the manager will kindly knock the price off 50% if your living enviroment is suitable and will even throw in some free (normally high priced) food to ensue the bird you bought gets fed well. If you do not have a suitable living enviroment for a bird and you wish to purchese one, employees can be quite rude and refuse to sell you bird. I honor their 'message', their prices are good, selection is varied, and it's overall a clean sweet smelling shop. Stop by sometime!
'After Words' is a cute bookstore, that's all. They are a small store and the employees are very helpful and seem to be knowledgeable but even good service and a delightful store cannot make up for bad selection. Because of the store's very small size, they hardly have a lot of products! A lot of their books I have never even heard of and I could find NONE of the 15 books I had on my list to find. Most were well known. They do not have a children's section either, so, it's all books for adults. I am not doubting that the books that they do have are not quality, because the one book I did buy (as not to waste my time) turned out to be actually, pretty good. Employees are friendly and helpful and can recommend good books in your favorite genre. Prices are fair, nothing amazing, but since, you can't find most of these books anywhere else locally, then, this is about the only choice you have. It's a good store with great employees but that selection really hurts it. =/
Londo Mondo offers a wide variety and selection of swimwear to choose from. I was impressed that they had about an equal amount of swimwear for men and women! A lot of the pieces look great and the selection is varied, so, chances are you'll find something you want that looks quite nice! They have a good number (4) of fitting rooms, so, you don't have to wait. I was also impressed with the LARGE mirrors and space inside each fitting room, it helps because there's nothing worse than having to go out in your 'revealing' swim piece to see yourself in a mirror! Still, pieces fit great and look great. I was very impressed with what I had purchesed, but I was not happy with the price. While the employees were very nice, I was sort of dissapointed to see such a high price, but I guess it reflects the high quality of the swimwear. It's good, but the prices are just too much. Recommended.
Mattress By Design is an amazing store! Their selection of mattresses is expansive and quite breathtaking at first glance. They offer all kinds of mattresses from name brands such as Serta to small brands that are normally, hard to find. They do not sell low-quality 'hand me downs' but instead, sell, the highest possible quality mattresses. I was happy to know, I could try out all the mattresses and see how they felt. Employees are eager to help and generally are very social. They can shop with you and give personal recommendations and helpful advice, they are very helpful and I recommend asking for a personal opinion before buying anything, they know stories about each mattress available. Overall, prices are great! I was able to get some great prices and end up saving hundreds in the end. I left impressed and happy. The mattress felt great and the low price combined with the helpful employees made it a great experience! Highly Recommended!
