Foodtown

New Brunswick, NJ Grocery Stores 11/12/05: 'Knock it down and rebuild it.'

I go grocery shopping quite often, and on my way home from New Brunswick last week, I was happy to see a Foodtown, because I needed to pick up some things.

I was sorry to stop ... this store was absolutely disgusting. The staff was very unfriendly, and the place was more of a cluttered closet than a grocery store. The store was very busy, but there was only one register opened, and the cashier had no clue what she was doing. Alot of the food was not fresh and the prices were pretty high.

I will never shop in that store again.

Foodtown Of Freehold

Freehold, NJ Grocery Stores 11/12/05: 'Old supermarket in need of updating.'

The Foodtown in Freehold, NJ is an old supermarket (1950), and was the first "modern" supermarket in the area. The store is rather small and seems very old, however it is always well stocked and busy.

The fact that they are opened 24 hours a day is also a plus.

PROS: Good food, open all night
CONS: Small and old

Foodtown Of Manalapan

Englishtown, NJ Grocery Stores 11/12/05: 'Could use some tuning up.'

Foodtown of Manalapan is a typical supermarket, however it seems that not very many people shop there. Even though the selection is pretty good, the prices on many items are a bit higher than other area stores. As a result, the store is usually very empty. It seems that there is always a line at the register, however, because normally only 1 or 2 of them are open.

On the good side, this store has good selection and is pretty clean. Well-stocked too. Also has one of the best meat departments of any of the stores of its type in the area.
