Local bakery with a small catering business as well as fresh boars head meats for sandwiches and subs. Nice selection of breads and pastries, cookies, cakes, rolls and doughnuts. They have some nice seasonal selections but relatively limited space, the their is not alot of quantity. Nice stop for coffee or hot cocoa and picking up a little snack.
They do the most amazing wedding cakes - layers of chocolate and strawberry and cream with wonderful cream frosting. We get our parents anniversary cake here every year, and get it large enough to have leftovers all week, everyone can't wait until the cake arrives. Fresh and wonderful pastries and cookie trays. Very clean and it smells wonderful when you walk in the door. A New Haven classic!
When you walk in the smell of powdered sugar and warm pastries waffs towards you. They are amongst the few truly authentic old school italian bakeries left in the Wooster street area. Numerous choices of pastries are fresh and inviting, holiday specialities such as St Josephs bread, etc., are annual favorites. Worth the trip in whenever you are traveling nearby. I brought Libby pastry to a party in the Italian neighborhood of Brooklyn, and everyone thought it was the best italian pastries they had had.
A beautiful campus in a safe, well guarded environment, Quinnipiac is a respectable school. The tuition seemed a bit steep a few years ago, but compared to the increased costs of the state schools, there is not much of a difference in costs now. The computer labs and classrooms are modern and clean, and the grounds are well maintained. One of the few schools locally with a physical therapy major and law school.
I was referred to this doctor who did a nerve conduction test on me, which was not a fun experience but he was a nice guy. The office is clean and he tried to make me as comfortable as possible, and then discussed the results with me and told me what he was going to write to the referring doctor as a recommended plan of action. Nice guy for an unfun test.
Dr Perricone who is known for his skin creams and books, is part of the Yale University system, and available to local regular people here in CT. He is also the dermatologist to several famous people, and his suggestions for diets that improve skin and brain function, as well as weight loss, really do work. I found some small changes, such as drinking green tea and trying to cut down on certain carbs, really made a difference in how I felt. He has a three day diet for better skin right before a special event like a wedding or reunion or job interview, and it really does make you look younger, thinner, healthier and refreshed in three days, I like the ability to spruce up quickly without a permanent committment like that.
This is a very nice and clean health care facility. The lobby is spacious and the grounds are well attended. There is ample room for patients to walk around a bit and socialize. They take care of many elderly patients here and the nurses and staff are kind and caring. One of the night time nurses makes a special effort to talk with the patients who do not get alot of visitors and spend extra time with the patients.
Nadia can extract the tiniest whitehead, she understands the need to look good when you are going to a reunion, a wedding, or running into an ex-signifigant other. She is careful not to cause a bigger incision or mark than necessary, she gives out TONS of skin care samples, and is very friendly. The magazines in the lobby are actually interesting. She is very knowledgeable about what creams and skin care works for your type of skin and what is a waste of money. Takes most kinds of insurance.
PROS: Excellent at extractions
CONS: They are booked MONTHS in advance
This office runs like a classic small town business, they remember your name and your pets name even if it has been years. They took care of my childhood cat and our adult cat with care and compassion. Very gentle and loving doctor and a sympathetic staff. He took the time to kindly explain the health issues of my cat to a child honestly without scaring me. The weekend coverage is referred to the State Street animal hospital.
PROS: Very kind doctor
CONS: Closed on weekends
I went to a few weddings here, the food was pretty good, hors doerves ran out fast and were not replenished for a full hour, but there was an ample dessert table, open bar with a bartender that did seem to know literally every drink, they made a nice ice sculpture and the lobster tail was much better than I expected when food is served to a large group. The staff was friendly and attentive and cleared tables quickly. The cake was really good.
