I've known five or six people who lived in this area. Its a huge apartment complex with mostly college students or other young people. Its in a decent part of town compared to other apartments in its price range. The apartments definitely are nothing to write home about, but they are pretty good. I would live here if I needed to.
This is another good college restaurant. They have gyros, which are hard to mess up. I love their gyros in particular because something in their sauce or meat is just to die for! They also have other Greek choices, like lamb, mousaka, pastitsio, and horiatiki. Other Greek stuff, too. They also do delivery, and they deliver beer and cigarettes too. Its a good college restaurant in the campus area!
I totally support local businesses, and that's why I love Graeter's. Their ice cream is fresh and delicious, which is a close second. Its fun to go here on a date or just with friends, or after an athletic event. Their ice cream is definitely not "lite", but it is so creamy and sweet. It isn't cheap, either. They have all the standard ice cream shop choices, like sundaes and milk-shakes. Gotta love the home-town ice cream business!
This food is what I as a college grad would consider gross now, but totally edible in college. It is open late at night, which is always a plus at that age. It has a bad business name, and its food doesn't really do itself any favors. I'm not much of a wings girl, so thats why it doesn't appeal to me much. I'd prefer a happy hour somewhere else with better wings at a cheaper price, too.
If you're a Buckeye, you've gotta go here. Its the coolest Buckeye restaurant in town. They have tons of memorabilia and great Buckeye decorating taste. The food is modern and delicious as well.
If you are not a Buckeye, well then you just have to go here to see how crazy us Bucks get for our home team. You probably won't be able to understand because you're probably from a town with professional athletic franchises. However, because we just got the Blue Jackets, our love for the Ohio State Buckeyes shows through and through, especially at this restaurant.
Spinelli's is in Victorian Village, a beautiful part of Columbus. Its right next to the Giant Eagle, and close to the 670 exit for Neil Avenue. It has great homemade soups, excellent subs, and also has the standard, fun sub shop atmosphere. The people who work here are very friendly and accomodating. A great deli!
Most people will agree that El Vaquero's is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Columbus, although I happen to think its hard to mess up Mexican, especially considering how many Mexicans are living in Columbus now. El Vaquero's is bigger than most, though, and it has better speaking servers. Also, its cooler to hang out here for happy hour than most other Mexican restaurants. For these reasons, I recommend El Vaquero.
For some reason, I just love Sapporo Wind. I know its been around for a while, although I don't think its the oldest. I think I like it best because others had recommended it to me as the best and I just agreed. The coolest thing about this place is the "boat". I think all sushi restaurants have a "boat", though. I highly recommend it for a couple eating out. Its basically this big, cool boat with sushi and little plates of food all over it. Its definitely enough to feed two, and it usually comes with appetizer soup and a dessert.
First of all, this is just a very, very cool place to go! Its in the trendiest part of downtown, and its on three different stories. If you go to the top (I did), you have to go up some steep, winding staircases. Its a little scary, but fun and exciting. We had their Thai cuisine, and it was delicious. This restaurant is pretty reasonably priced considering the experience we had here. They had live music that evening as well.
This is one of the older, more established Japanese restaurants in the Columbus area. It deserves it, too. Their sushi is great, and its just a cool place to go. They have great lunch deals, and at night they have karaoke. The only thing that kind of sucks here is their decor. The orange vinyl chairs kind of show how long the restaurant has been around. The food is excellent, but they could stand to update their atmosphere.
