Checked out his daycare center when I was looking for full time daycare for my baby. I was not impressed. This basement facility was dark and outdated. They had areas in the baby room that just didn't look safe to me. I couldn't imagine putting my baby in this dark, depressing looking facility for 8+ hours a day. The staff seemed friendly and qualified, but I couldn't get over the look of the facility.
When I was looking for a daycare for my baby, Great beginnings topped the list. It was s popular that I was unable to get a spot when my child was an infant. They have a low turnover rate for the pupils, which is a good indicator of the quality of the school. The classrooms were bright with big windows. the spaces were clean and well kept, the teachers friendly and qualified. This school is definitely worth checking out.
I have been a regular customer at Tom's Pet Outlet. They have a good selection of pet supplies and their prices are reasonable. they carry supplies for large animals as well as small. They also have a good selection of tropical fish. They always have a few exotic birds and puppies on hand as well. Tom's is convenient, friendly, and well-stocked.
Totally Pets is a fine place to go in a pinch, but they are pretty skimpy on the basic supplies. I have a parrot, and although I would be able to buy toys here, I would not recommend buying food here for a bird, since their selection is slim. They have a few live animals for sale: a couple puppies, a few kittens, parakeets and hamsters. No big thrills.
Mele's Pet Shop is a great little shop that has a good selection of fish, frogs and reptiles. A locally owned business, they give you the personal attention that a chain store can't give. They carry pet supplies of all sorts and have interesting fish choices for you tropical fish aquarium. Every time I go there, I have a good time looking at their aquariums.
What sets the College Settlement Camp apart from others is their mission: to teach kids to love nature, understand it, so they will preserve it. They have all the usual fun of summer and overnight camp with games, campfires and competition. But, while they are doing those things, they are trying through the group activities and all that they do to teach respect for nature. The camp is expansive and beautiful. Your kids will come back with many good memories!
I have been to Camp Innabah several times for group functions and have always been pleased with the experience. Their grounds are pretty and well kept. The staff is accommodating to group requests. I have been there for a really nice fall hay ride compete with bonfire. They also accommodate groups for weekend retreats an have summer camp for kids.
The Bakery at the Dining Car offers high class baked goods and sensational looking cakes for all occasions. This is better than your run of the mill bakery. They have attention to detail and a flair about their baked goods that is unrivaled. I purchased my wedding cake from there and the flavor was unusual (chocolate chip) and everyone raved about it.
I have been a customer at Holmesburg bakery since I have been a kid. They have terrific home baked cookies and cakes. You can special order lots of different bakery items form them, and I have never been disappointed. This store has a real neighborhood feel, with local flyers in the window and a hershey's ice cream freezer inside the front door!
West Gate Pub has the best chicken fingers around. Their sauce is tangy and unique. The ambiance of the restaurant is dark and smoky, but the food is worth it. They also have a take out next door if you'd rather eat the food at your own home, in better ambiance. We've also had their steaks and fries and like them too!
