Water World in Phoenixville gives you a water park expereince without havng to travel to a big park like Dorney or down the shore. They have several thrilling slides as well as a regular pool. Admission price is reasonable. It can get crowded, but you can go in the early evening in the summer and beat the crowds, and the heat!
Ocean City Tabernacle is an intersting place to worship while on vacation. I am not sure which denomination it is, but it strikes me as a Baptist type, protestant place. The interesting thing about this church is that it only functions int he summer, catering to summer people. They will occassionally have soe big name Christian speakers who ar eint eh area for their vacation come in and speak. It's a fairly low key, nice expereice to go worship there.
The Swiss Farm Stores are a chain of convenience stores that are scattered throughout Delaware County. They are a godsend, because they are a drive through convenience store. If you have little kids and need milk or eggs or snacks, you can drive right through and pick up what you need. They have a list available of what they sell that I keep in my glove box for those moments when a kid falls asleep in the car, but I stil need to pick up something from the the store. Their prices are typical convenience store: higher than the grocery store, but not gouging.
Atlantic House Bed and Breakfast is a charming old victorian house with about 6 rooms fro rent and a basement apartment. The house itself is charming, and the inkeepers make it more so. We have spent many a weekend at this place. The rooms are small, but neatly furnished, several have a shared bath. They have a little jacuzzi outside, and a whole assortment of beach things that you can borrow to trek down tot he ocean.
When the bag says "Stutz own make candies" you know it's going to be good! I have been a customer of Stutz' for a long time and I am a fan of their candy. They make a dark chocolate that is unique and delicious. Their prices are reasonable for handmade candy and you can't beat the taste.
The Creamery at Penn State University is one of those things that you should goto see. All the ice cream is made right there by the students. That being said, the ice cream is not usually that terrific, and they pick some strange flavors to make ( my husband came back with German Chocolate cake last time). It's worth going to see, since how many schools offer ice cream making as part of their curriculum? They also have insulated bags and dry ice for sale, so proud Penn Staters can carry their ice cream home to far flung parts of the state without it melting.
I have used this outpatient laboratory facility many times for tests that my doctor has ordered fro myself and my family. I have found that the staff is efficient and knowledgeable, if not always friendly. They are always crowded, especially in the morning. They are pretty quiet in teh evenings, but not all of their services are available after 5 pm, so be sure to call and check if you need a test done later. They have x-ray, blood, urine and other diagnostic tests, right on site.
The Yummie Bake Shop has truly delicious baked goods fro sale. On a recent day there, I came home with an apple tart and some rasberry twists. They were out of this world! That being said, I don't go to the Yummie often becuase their prices are very high. For 3 single serve items, I paid about $6...I would have though it should be a little less. They also do cakes and custom work.
Rossi's usually has the best prices around on tires. And, their service is quick. Because I was so pleased with them for tires, I tried an inspection with them and I was not as thrilled. They were slow and I didn't feel like I got great service. From now on, I'll go there, but just for tires.
This is a very large gift shop with a wonderful selection of cards, gifts and bric a brac. What strikes me about this store is its sheer sqauer footage. It seems like at least 3 times the size of an average card shop. They have about the same amount of cards as an average shop, but they have many more gifts. Another nice touch, they will sell you stamps for the cards you buy, so you can pop them right in the mail!
