This is a store where nothing is over 2 dollars. In general their merchandise is low quality and unremarkable. There is a much better selection at one of the area's chain dollar stores. Occasionally I will be able to find what I am looking for by going in to this store, but most times it is not worth the trip.
This is the thrift shop where you can find it all. They have a good selection of used clothing and furnishings and housewares. This is the place I go when I need a specific item. For example, one Halloween I needed a 50's type skirt, couldn't find one anywhere...went here and found one for $5. I have never been disappointed when I went there in search of clothes for a specific occasion!
The interesting thing about this store is that it features handmade items from all over the world that have been fairly traded for. This means you can get authentic handcrafts that you know have not been produced by inequitable practices. They have a great selection of unique things from all over. Pottery, textiles, ornaments, tin. I shop here over and over.
This hair salon had friendly service. They were quite trendy, so I thought that I left there "up with the lastest" fashions in hair. They were able to take me without an appointment, although their sign says that appointments are recommended. Price for a wash, cut and style was average. I would definitely return.
I needed a last minute Christmas gift for my Mother-in-law and this place did the trick. They offer gifts personalized with a photo done while you wait. I posed my children and within a half hour they had a mug ready with a personalized message. All that for $18 - what a deal. Friendly service too. They are a kisok cart located inside the Granite Run Mall, on the first floor by the elevator.
This second hand shop's proceeds go completely to benefit Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, so your shopping can support a good cause. Their prices fro housewares is quite high (about 75% ofnew prices) They often have some very nice pieces of furniture. Clothing prices are more reasonable, but the styles tend to be matronly! This shop is always busy every time I go, they must be doing something right!
Let me start by saying that this second hand store's proceeds go to a good cause. That makes it worth it to shop there in and of itself. All proceeds go to help abused women. The quality of their merchandise is fairly low, however. Once in a while I've found a good clothing item. Lots of glassware and out of date looking housewares. One nice feature: brand new quilts for sale!
In addition to having all of the supplies you would expect of a teacher's store, Becker's also has great educational toys. I recently purchased Thomas the Tank engine items, Bob the Builder toys and "Gertie" balls there. The toys were competitively priced and difficult to find in other places.
Over the past 3 years, I have had 2 rooms of carpet installed by carpet fair. For the first, I was looking for an unusual color - and they were able to find it. For the second, I wanted inexpensive, but quality, and again they were able to satisfy. They have a large selection, the best prices around, and their install time was within a couple weeks!
I can't say enough good things about this company. First, when I was looking for a place I called them and told them about my parameters, which included an extremely limited budget. They found a great rental for a great price for my family. Secondly, we had a problem with an oil spill on the carpet by a prior renter. They had someone in to clean it up within a day. Great service!
