Mount Sinai Medical Center Comprehensive Breast Center
I had my mammogram done at Mount Sinai. It was quite an unpleasant experience which is probably not indicative of the facility so much as the whole procedure is just unpleasant. They give you a cloth gown, but the machines are not quite accommodating to people of smaller stature so I found I was tip-toeing somewhat. They do have their own parking which was supposed to be free but the attendant charged me $2.00
Pepper Park Tennis Center
This tennis center has 12 Lighted Courts. It is one of the nicest tennis facilities in Miami-Dade County. They have an on-site instructor and a small concession area. My son took tennis lessons there and the instructor is a really nice guy. They have instructional programs for adults and kids. Lots of parking and they also have baseball fields, a basketball court and a 1.5 mile walking trail around the park.
Grubstake Resources
Grubstake is my favorite charity. I donate stuff to them every year when I empty the closets. Ive donated clothing that my son out grew as well as furnishings. Typically you have to drop off but theyll send someone to pick up furniture and other large items. They give the items to women overcoming addiction or domestic abuse or sell them in their thrift store.
Slashers
Ive used Slashers on a couple of occasions for small printing jobs. They did the invitations for my cousins 50th birthday party and an order of business cards. In each case the finished product needed to be revised because of centering issues but the final finished product was good. Im not sure if their prices are truly competitive but theyve been in business in Miami for over 20 years and they have excellent hours. Theyre open late on weekdays. They have copying, printing, faxing and even a typewriter available. They also have a notary on-site as well.
Associated Paint Inc
I bought my house paint from these guys 10 years ago and it never peeled or faded. They match any color, and theyll even remix your paint if youve waited too long to use it. Weve been using them for years. Theyre kinda in an out of the way location in Medley but theyre products are top notch. Were re-painting this year so well be using their paint as soon as we agree on a color. Well worth the drive.
Anthurium Gardens Florist
Anthurium Gardens has been in Miami since 1980. Ive always ordered my funeral and get-well flowers from them because the have speedy service and theyre prices arent an arm and a leg like some florists. They are centrally located and very easy to find. They also have many tropical plants as well as floral arrangements and theyre a great local florist.
84 Diner & Lounge
We popped into this diner on a lazy mid-week afternoon. The food was great, the portions were ample and the price was right! They had lots of televisions going on and we were quite glued to the domino tournament that was showing on ESPN. Service was prompt and our server was very personable. Wed definitely go again.
Laguna Restaurant
Laguna is a nice place to grab a hot Cuban meal. They have gigantic portions and the food is excellently prepared. I go there for an occasional luncheon with my colleagues because they love the tostones or fried plantains. I like their snapper, which is consistently done well and is always good. The prices are very affordable so its always busy.
Miami Dade County
This is a wonderful little library. I really dont go there to browse although I could if I really wanted to. I always order my books online at the MDPLS website and have them sent to Lemon City. They always call me when the book is ready to be picked up. The beauty of the whole program is that even though this branch may not have my favorite audio book on their shelf, it can be sent from any branch in Miami- Dade. This branch is small and has limited hours but they have free computers and wireless access like all Miami- Dade county libraries
Martin S. Cohen MD
My husband went to Dr. Cohen for years but changed doctors because the drive was too far to get to in a timely manner after working in Broward. He is an excellent doctor. Hes very patient and he runs diagnostic tests on site regularly. His staff is ok and the parking is fine
