Hospital recently underwent lots of renovations, which were much needed. A bit of a maze to get around now though is the only problem that the construction has created. They are pretty liberal with visiting hours as long as you are not creating any issues as well, adn only have a small amount of people in the room.
The birthing center at the hospital is wonderful, the staff also was quite nice. We took the classes there as well (which are free) prior to our child being born, and found the entire experiance with the hospital to be a wonderful one. The rooms they move you too after the birth are a bit small, but the delivery rooms are nice and large.
In the land of chain hotels in the West Des Moines area, the Wildwood fits in nicely. Good service, and the evening manager's reception is nice as well. Room service is provided from a neighboring restaurant which is nice as well. The only complaint is the poolside rooms get loud during the weekend and it takes a bit to get it quiet in the pool area during the weekend late nights.
Dr. Henson with the clinic was one of the better Dr's I have been to. Decent to deal with, and listens and shares info instead of just telling you what you should think and do and not paying any attention to you and your thoughts.
Dr. Roberts is a decent Dr, but the clinic he is out of is not very centrally located to the Hot Springs downtown area, so when he is the on-call dr for the weekend, you have to drive out aways to go there. Much better in dealing with than other dr's within the group.
Very abrupt and lacks communication, also is more concerned about just getting his job done vs. taking care of the patient and the family. When he is on call and is the only option is the only way I will let my child see him.
Located in the downtown area, the boutique offers quite a variety of selection for women and babies. Not the most stylish of clothing, but for the area, very reasonable and practical. The family lives near by, so there is always someone to help with a question.
Hidden away in the store is the actual pharmacy. The store is mainly a gift store, with lots of different home decor items, as well as wedding and shower gifts. Decent priced, and a nice variety to look at while waiting for your perscription to be filled, or just to go shopping at.
Not anyplace I would ever stay again. Old and historic, but I am guessing that if it was this bad back in the day, I would have walked out disgusted as well. Small rooms that had a very foul odor, and not a very pleasant staff either.
If you want a bath on bathhouse row, then this is the it! The only operating bath house on bathhouse row, they have finally started taking guests on Sunday's which is a big benefit, as some weekends it is so busy downtown, you can't get in.
