The facilities and campsites are nice, wooded, & private. The bathhouse is clean. However, they randomly enforce their rules. Signs posted say quiet hours from 11-7. We stayed at this campground with two young children. The first night we stayed apparently some college students (who had rented out five campsites and two cabins) were "filming a movie", and were up partying, yelling, and making loud noises (setting off car alarms, etc) until 5:00 a.m. Nothing was done about this. We didn't sleep the entire night. When my husband and some other people complained, the owner's daughter said they had paid money to rent the sites, and seemed enamored that they were "filming a movie" at their campground (as if this was some major production). It was ridiculous. Upon leaving, the owner was much more gracious and understanding about it (although we weren't offered a refund). Bottom line-- if you're going to call yourself a family campground, don't turn it into a haven for partying college kids.
This church advertised their VBS in the newspaper, and when I called they said to register upon arrival. Well, i drove my children to VBS and when I got there, I was turned away. The lady said there wasn't room for my kids. My son was really disappointed. I have never heard of a church turning away a child for VBS. I would never go back to anything here. They really didn't care about my kids at all!
We bought our house with Atlas Realty, and they really didn't do their homework. Looking back on it, our house really shouldn't have passed the FHA inspection that their inspector did. It had many violations that should have been repaired before we moved in, but the inspector they used signed off on it. Also, the information the previous owner gave us was inaccurate from the size of our lot, to the cost of heating our house. When using any realty company, buyer beware!
This garage has a nice waiting area, good & fast service. They are also reasonable pricing for the area. We have taken our vehicles here several times. They offer an air-conditioned child-friendly (coloring books, etc) waiting room, and a clean rest-room. They always have done a good job working on our cars.
My sister took gymnastics here for a couple of years, and they have a nice gym with newer equipment. Parents will like the observation area where you can sit & watch what is going on with your child (onlike a lot of places where you can't watch them. Also, they have a special toddler room for little kids. I actually called them to find out about classes for my toddler, but was disappointed that they didn't even call me back for 3+ weeks, so I went with a different gym for my son.
Frances Slocum State Park has a nice-sized swimming pool. I believe it is $2 or $3 for adults and a little less than that for children. I know you can also buy season passes. The down-side to this pool is it gets really packed in the summer, and there are not a lot of shady places around the pool to sit. There are also some nice hiking trails, and canoeing and paddle-boating for reasonable rates. Great place for a picnic! Also they have camping available and different nature activities for kids throughout the summer season.
This is a very small bakery. I stopped in to see what it was like. They have pizza shells, breads, some pastries/cookies, etc. Great little place to go if you are needing some freshly made baked goods. Prices are competitive for the area.
My son loves their parent/child class (he is 3). They have lots of fun activities plus they learn basic gymnastics skills. He also had previously taken gymnastics at the YMCA in Wilkes Barre, and it was nowhere near as good as the classes at Alpha Gymnastics. At the Y, the instructor was impatient, and did not work according to the age level of 2-3 year olds. At Alpha Gymnastics, they had it all organized so that your child would never have to just "sit" and wait, since toddlers have such as short attention span.
It is in Scranton, and the location isn't the best (Main Ave). . .I think it used to be Astronauts Gymnastics. However, the price is really great (only $33 for 4 classes, plus a $25 yearly registration fee). I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who has an active preschooler. They have a foam pit that my son loves, and also a rope swing, and a huge trampoline.
