Clipper Vacations/Victoria Clipper

Seattle, WA Hotels & Travel - Seattle, WA Travel Agencies 11/17/05: 'Victoria Clipper to Victoria, B.C.'

The staff was friendly and the ride wasn't too bad. I get motion sickness pretty easy but I didn't have a problem when I rode the clipper for 2 reasons. 1) We sat in the middle (less motion) 2) they also sell Dramemine, took one just in case.

Victoria was and is such a beautiful place. The people are so nice and friendly and the views are just breathtaking. Definitely get an overnight or two package with the clipper and you will have a great time!

Competitive Edge Performance

Puyallup, WA Sports & Recreation - Puyallup, WA Recreation Facilities 11/17/05: 'Great place for kids to run around in.'

My son's football team had their end of the year party here and it was great! Especially with a bunch of 7-9 year olds running around with so much pent up energy. They have a viewing room upstairs with a table and chairs where you can setup food and still watch over the whole area below you.
The staff got the kids and adults engage in a game of dodgeball. It was pretty hilarious watching the adults become so competitive against their children.
They also have batting cages and a separate workout/training room.
This was much better than the norm of taking a bunch of wild kids to a pizza parlor.

Union Avenue Dental Ctr

Tacoma, WA Dentists 11/17/05: 'Dr. Manke, Dr. Smart and Staff'

I've gone here for years, first time I set foot in the office was with my friend when she got her braces, then it was with my sister and a few years ago it was for myself.
I remember how both my friend and my sister loved going, which I thought was odd until I went in for my own braces. The staff are one of the nicest people you will meet. They make it a point to get to know you on a first name basis and even remember that my sister went there (was over 8 yrs go at the point). And the added bonus, they are perfectionist! They aren't satisified with mediocrisy. I kept my braces on for another 1/2 year longer because my teeth weren't as straight as we all wanted them to be. :)
Not so surprising is the fact that they have a high population of adults that go to them. They are great with kids as well as with adults.
If you want perfect teeth, go to Dr. Smart.
Dr. Manke was retiring when I was going in there for treatment so he may already be gone.

PROS: Friendly staff!

Vets For Less Animal Clinic

Vets for Less is a Clinic for dogs and cats. It's a walk-in only (unless you are having any surgical procedure done) , first come, first serve basis. If you are looking for something cheap and affordable, this is the place. If you want a vet that gets to know you and becomes aquainted with you and your pet this is not the place for you. Since this is a a clinic, most times your pet will not be seen by the same vet.
The majority of the staff are friendly, there is a female vet that tends to push her opinions as fact which you can take with a grain of salt.

PROS: Cheap and affordable. No appt necessary for shots
CONS: Most times your pet will not be seen by the same vet

Cassidy's Pub & Outdoor Mini

Tacoma, WA Mini Golf - Tacoma, WA Food - Tacoma, WA Bars & Pubs - Tacoma, WA Restaurants 11/17/05: 'Drink beer and play a little putt putt.'

This is another outdoor putt putt but the twist is it's behind the Cassidy's bar so you can drink your beer while waiting for your turn to putt. This is kid friendly but it's a little disconcerting to have to take your kid into the bar to get the putter. I'd say take the kids to Parkland Putters and let the adults play here.
Granted, Cassidy's only has 1 course but it one of the holes involves shooting off a pool table.
This great during the summer time as they have 25 cent beer specials.

PROS: Drink beer and putt at the same time
CONS: Only one course.

Parkland Putters

Tacoma, WA Mini Golf 11/17/05: 'A great place to take your whole family'

With so many housing development taking over Tacoma and Puyallup areas there are not many things you can do with your family. Parkland Putters is one of the rare outdoor recreations that are still around.
There are multiple courses to choose from ranging from easy/beginners to more hard/advanced. At the end of the 18th hole if you do make a whole in one, you receive a trophy and they also hand out the ribbons to each of the players (ie 1st place, 2nd place, etc).
This is a great place to take your family to without spending an arm and a leg.

Moore Tina - Dental Health Assoc

Lakewood, WA Dentists 11/17/05: 'Dr. Thoren and Staff'

I've taken my whole family for over 5 years to Dr. Thoren. He is one of the nicest dentist you will ever meet. He always has a smile on his face and his staff are also all very nice. Especially with my youngest son who has the toughest times at the dentist (he has a bad gag reflex) and after having thrown up on the dental hygienist twice she still was nice about it.
