You can drop your kids off here while you go shopping or to work or whatever. You can leave them here almost all day! They get fed and get to run around and play in the gym to their little hearts content. It is very affordable and they used to give out pagers to the parents when they dropped their kids off in case of emergencies. Now, of course thats not really necessary since practically everyone has a cell phone. You can also have birthday parties here.
This is the only place my family stops to get gas. Not only do they usually have the cheapest gas in town, they pump it for you! At the cheap price! And they don't expect a tip. As a matter of fact, there is a sign that says you are not allowed to pump your own gas and no tipping! The guys are fast and friendly. The only drawback I can see is that they take cash and checks, but no credit or debit cards.
This place is awesome with all the neat cool items that they have. It is very divaish. Very expensive too. There really isn't anything in this store that I can afford. Last summer Britney Spears came here and shopped for about two hours. It was a big deal in town.
This place is crawling with tourists and fishermen during the Summer days. You can bring your own fishing equipment or you can rent it from them. If you catch a very large fish they will take your picture together and hang it on the wall with all the others. At night it is a very romantic place to go as most of the fishermen are gone and you can look out at the sea or up at the stars.
There is so much to do here. It is a community where well to do people live. Very nice houses and places to rent while on Summer vacation. But the best part is the Sandestin shopping center. You can walk around here, they have valet parking if you like and look at all the neat individualistic stores and restuarants. They usually always have something going on in the square - usually a band or a comic or something. Its always free. Its just a magial place. I definitely recommend coming here.
I have mixed feelings about this hospital. Its very nice and while not huge it is large for the area. The people who work here are generally very nice and helpful. Its very easy to get in and get out quickly. However, the first time my family went here, I had a rude nurse who made me feel like an idiot for being there since it wasn't a "true" emergency - her words. I thought I was having a heart attack! So where else was I supposed to go? I guess I shouldn't let one nurse taint my ideas of a whole hospital, but I cringe whenever we have to go back.
This dermatologist has two offices one in Destin and one in Fort walton, i believe. When I went in for the appt that my wife had made for me I was a little put off because of the way Dr. D'silvas office looked. It wasn't neat or clean. Dr. D'silva was very polite but also very abrupt. I didn't even bother to ask some of the questions I had because I felt she didn't want to hear them. I have insurance, but even so, I wouldn't waste my $30 copay here again.
We went in November and I would definitely recommend a jacket, but it was a lot of fun. I think its around $30 for two people. The cruise takes about two and a half hours. They basically hunt down the dolphins while giving you a tour of the harbor and area. Its really great. We didn't actually see that many dolphins but it was winter so perhaps thats why.
I regularly went out with this boat on deep sea fishing trips. About $30 for half a day or $50 for a full day. The captain is great; nice and won't stay in one place if anyone isn't catching anything. He always goes to where the fish are. They have poles and setups and everything there so if you don't have your own don't worry about it. The deck hands will walk around and help you with any problems you might be having.
This library is new and very nice. However, unlike most other public libraries I have been to where if you live outside of town you have to pay an annual fee of $30 or so, this library wants $75! I think thats crazy! Yes, the library looks great and has a lot of neat stuff, but the books and computers are just the same as the smaller libraries where you can put holds on books if that library doesn't have it in stock. Great if you live in Fort Walton, otherwise, go to one of the smaller ones.
