We were very pleased with the Carribean Beach resort during our stay. The rooms were nice and clean and very well maintained. It was a short walk to the pool, the food court, or the bus stop. The grounds were all nicely maintained and the pools were very clean. The food court had a nice selection of food, and was surprisingly uncrowded.
For the little extra price, you get your money's worth over the All star resorts, or an off property resort. We will definately stay at the Carribean Beach resort on future Disney trips.
PROS: Clean, nice rooms, conveniently located to everything
We stayed at the All Star Movies resort last week. We were not at all impressed with this resort. It is not really what we were expecting as far as Disney standards go. We usually stay at one of the moderate resorts, but thought we would give this a try. We definately will go back to staying at the moderate resorts and spending the little extra money!
The resort was kind of run down by Disney standards with big gaps in the door, and the grounds were not very well maintained. For as many rooms as the resort has the food court is completely ridiculous. It was so crowded that you can hardly turn around carrying your tray of food. Everytime we went to get coffee with our refillable mugs they were out of coffee....if by chance you were able to find coffee then of course the creamer was out! I don't think we were able to get ketchup the entire week we were there, that was of course always empty too! The food court was definately more hassle than "on site convenience."
We also used the Disney magical express bus and were told to arrive 15 minutes before our bus was to leave for the airport to gather our carry on bags. We came very close to missing our bus because they had one person working the counter that was NOWHERE to be found.
For what it's worth we will definatey spend the extra money and stay at moderate resorts for any future Disney trips.
CONS: Pretty much everything else.
We received a gift certificate for the Wilderness resort! We normally stay at the Kalahari in the Dells. If we had never stayed at the Kalahari we probably would have liked the Wilderness better, but we didn't find nearly as much for little kids as they have at the Kalahari. If our kids were older we might like them equally!
The rooms were nice and we enjoyed the kids eat free at the restaurant. One thing that our kids really enjoyed was the dry playland with all the ball shooters! They could have spent a whole day just playing in there! Also enjoyed the pottery painting, the kids had fun and made me a souviner for my curio cabinet!
A nice weekend getaway, but if we are staying in the dells and spending our money, we prefer the Kalahari.
PROS: Good value for the $.
CONS: We think there are better resorts in the Dells.
We have been visiting the Kalahari a couple times a year for 3 years. It is a beautiful hotel and the waterpark is our favorite in the Dells! The waterpark is great for a family with small kids. We love that most of the water slides are tube slides so that small kids are able ride it will a grown up. The other resorts we have stayed at had mainly body slides that little kids aren't able to ride! We really enjoyed Kahunaville Restaurant during our stay, and you CAN'T miss the little candy shop with the chocolate covered strawberries!
Another fun thing we do is each time we stay we have our daughters paint a piece of pottery at the little pottery shop and they date it on the bottom! I have a curio full of beautiful "art" pieces! Also check in the lobby to see when they have the baby tigers and lions come for pictures with the kids! My daughter was so thrilled that she got to pet a baby lion!
It is a tad expensive, but when you figure in the waterpark being included it really isn't a bad price at all! It is definately a great weekend getaway!
PROS: Too many to list, we love it there!
We drive the extra 20 minutes to shop at Logli! Their selection of meat and produce can't be beat! If you are smart shopper you can find some really great prices for staple items and stock up on them! They have the best selection in the area of gourmet and ethnic items, and often they are the only place I can find certain products we love!
We have always been well taken care of buy the meat department! If you are willing to wait a minute or two they are pretty much willing to get you anything you want! I never get that kind of service at the other area grocery stores!
PROS: Excellent quality products and great prices if you shop smart!
CONS: Some prices are a little high, crowded on the weekends.
We make trip out to Susie's Garden patch every year for the Strawberry festival! We love picking our own strawberries, and it's such a fun way to spend an afternoon. From the pony rides to the face painting our kids have a great time too! The strawberries are delicious and we look forward next year to trying the pick our own raspberries and asparugus as well!
PROS: The location and atmosphere
CONS: Gets a little crowded and the strawberries get picked out pretty quickly
We recently rented out the Rec center for our daughter's 1st birthday party! The staff at the rec center was very helpful and accomodating. They even had tables and chairs set up for us, and sterno racks available for our use! Every guest at our party commented on how nice the party room was, and how beautiful the view of the lake was!
The location of the rec center is so convenient, and the price was very reasonable for the rental! I would highly reccomend the rec center to anyone planning a large gathering or even a wedding reception! It is so nice having something like this so close to home and so reasonably priced! Definately an asset to the Candlewick community!
PROS: Location, price, and the view is great!
CONS: Can't hang streamer or any decorations!
We have made Edward's part of our fall family tradition for the past 7 years, and plan to for years to come! We spend a afternoon picking apples, walking visit the petting zoo and the kids ride the ponies and the wagon ride. Their selection of specialty foods and snacks is wonderful (and we always love the samples of everything) No trip is complete without a dozen of their apple cider donuts! And this year we even tried their "pick you own pumpkin" and that was an afternoon of fun too! I am lucky that we live close enough to visit often on the weekdays, it does get crazy there on the weekends! It is definately worth the crowd though. We have friends who drive all the way from Naperville every year to spend an afternoon at the orchard with us!
PROS: Fun atmosphere, delicious apples (and DONUTS!) so close to home.
CONS: The only con is the crowds! It's still worth it though!
My husband and I do a lot of driving for work! J& D Marathon always has the gas priced very fairly, and we are very pleased that they recently started carrying E-85 fuel! Their convenience store is just that in this fairly rural location. They carry a wide variety of staples in their convenience store. Their selection has saved me many trips into town for forgotton grocery store items! J&D Marathon is definately a local "convenience."
PROS: Convenient location with a wide selection of staples!
Enchanted Acres boarding can't be beat! Our dog has stayed there several times, and they have always been outstanding! I can go on vacation feeling confident that he is being well cared for and he actually seems to enjoy being there! Before Enchanted Acres opened up he stayed at another kennel in the area, one weekend they were completely booked and we decided to "try out" Enchanted Acres. They easily became our first choice Kennel. It's now a joke in our family that Bullitt enjoys his "vacation home" as much as we do ours!
PROS: Their friendly staff has an obvious love and knowledge of dogs!
CONS: Havn't found any!!
