The Bookworm is a perfect place to spend an afternoon. It is a cozy shop, overflowing with books of all kinds. They trade or sell books, so you can come in with your own used books and trade them for store credit. There is a wide selection, so you are almost guaranteed to find what you are looking for. The prices are affordable, and the woman who runs the store is very friendly and always eager to help if you need it.
Whether or not you are a hairstylist, Beauty Supply Hair Depot is the best place to go for any type of hair supply you may need. I went in looking for something to fix dry/damaged hair, and I wanted something more on the professional level (stronger than the items you can buy at the store). The staff at this store helped me find the perfect items for my needs, and did not try to oversell me on things I had no need for. They were very friendly and willing to help.
Palermos Bakery is a wonderful little place to go for a special treat. The bakery is filled with amazing foods and smells, and it is impossible to leave empty handed. I went in looking for something to serve at a meeting, and the staff was more than willing to help me make my choices. I was very impressed with the quality of the treats, and will be going back for more.
This animal hospital saved my dog after he licked a poisonous toad. My dog is small, so he had a very slim chance of survival, but this hospital did not give up. They did everything they could, and my dog is now happy and healthy.
When you take your clothes here to be altered, be prepared for a wait. The seamstress is in high demand, but her work is so good that it is worth the wait. I took in a pair of suit pants that I thought I ruined in the laundry, hoping there was a way to salvage them. I was given an honest opinion of the job (as to whether or not it was worth it to fix). The pants came back to me looking better than new.
I called this driving school when I was price-shopping for affordable driving lessons. Their prices are low, but other than that, there was nothing redeeming about this school. The person who answered the phone sounded as if he had just woken up; he mumbled and became angry when I asked him to repeat himself. I called back another day hoping to get someone else on the phone. I did, but this person was no more helpful. They acted as though I was wasting their time, rather than treat me as a potential customer. I was very dissatisfied with the treatment I received.
Rub A Dub Car Spa is a great place to get your car cleaned and detailed, and you won't spend all day waiting. The service is very thorough, and they get you in and out very quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are very affordable.
St. Vincent de Paul is known for their charity work and thrift stores. This particular store does a disservice to the name. On my visit, I planned to donate and to shop. My donations were taken with the employee sneering, as though it were beneath her to deal with used items. The store was dirty, the items were in such poor quality it's unlikely anybody would buy them. The prices are outrageous for a charity/thrift store. If you knew the staff members, they were very happy to give items at a deep discount, as I witnessed this a few times during my visit. However, if you were not friends with the staff, you were treated as though you were wasting their time.
CONS: Filthy environment
Anna's Linens has a very large selction of just about anything you would need to dress your home. I went in shopping for new bedding and was quite surprised at how many choices this store had. The prices are comparable to other stores specializing in bedding. Overall, this is a good place to go if you are looking to get away from the "same old, same old" that you tend to find at other stores.
Faith Farm is a wonderful thrift shop, and the money they raise goes towards supporting their drug/alcohol rehab program. They have a wide selection of just about anything you could imagine, including a section of the store for new furniture. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. They offer free delivery, as well as pick-up of any items you may want to donate.
I went to Faith Farm just to browse, and was lured in by their large selection of books. A staff member offered to help me if I was looking for anything specific, and also told me when the store runs a sale on books so that I could return and get more for my money. I really enjoyed shopping here and will definitely return.
PROS: Prices are low, large selection
CONS: Furniture is a bit expensive
