Meadowthorpe Antique Mall had a bit of everything from vintage glassware to furniture items. As with many antique malls it is divided by seller and some are better than others. The place seems to wander forever with many nooks and crannies . With its relaxed atmosphere, children are welcome and it is easy to lose track of time in this place. Great for spending a few hours in the afternoon or for the person who is looking for particular piece. Prices are different according to seller, but there are many treasure to be found.
Small space but treasures abound for needlecrafters. Patterns, threads, yarns, needles if you need it for a needlecraft they have it. This store is awesome, classes are often available to sign up for in cross stitch, knitting, and crochet. Also if you sign up for the mailing list they will alert you of sales, promos and other events happening in the store. The newsletters also often have a pattern on the backside, so don't throw it away before checking out the pattern.
Awesome jewelry store. I've bought my wife several pieces of jewelry from Pattons and have been more than pleased with all of it. If you're not sure what someone may like just ask, they may have a wish list on record at Pattons. You may go in and a sales person will show you everything taking note of which pieces you like, this will be kept on file for anyone who may be shopping for you. Sizing services and lay away are also available . Teriffic sales staff full of friendly people who will remember your name the next time you are in to shop. We love this store!
A very eclectic collection of consigned furniture and home decor items. Always something new to be found in one of the many nooks and crannies of this place. We always look here when we can't seem to find an item anywhere else. Everyone here is friendly and many seem to know one another. Many pieces aren't there for long so if you see something you like don't hesitate to buy it, it may not be there when you go back. Parking can be troublesome , there isn't much of it and backing out into the busy street can be difficult depending on time of day.
Fort Boonesborough is a great place to go spend the day. You can take a tour of the fort and speak to the craft people on site, and visit the gift shop. In the state park which is just down the road a bit you can camp, boat, fish, picnic or just hang out for the day letting the kids play or walk the beach. There is plenty of room to spread out a blanket, under the sahde of one of the huge old trees. Picnic tables are available. Huge play area for kids with swings and slides and lots of parking.
Another great place to take relatives when they visit. We took my inlaws and spent the day checking ou the old structures and talking to the crafts people who are on site making brooms, candles quilts etc. There is a horse drawn wagon ride available to see the grounds without having to walk which was great for the older people in our group and the wagon "driver" has a lot of information to share about the grounds as well as the guides inside the buildings. You can't leave without visiting the gift shop's which are full of handmade craft items made on site. When you're done here buy tickets for the boat ride just down the street on the Kentucky River, it's just down the street.
A neat place to take relatives when they visit or to take the kids and hang out on a Saturday afternoon. The grounds are huge with enough room to spread out for a picnic lunch and let the kids run around a bit. The gardens are beautiful and well manicured, open to the public with benches for along the path. If you haven't been inside take the tour the house is beautiful and the guides are very knowledgable . It's good for all ages, our grade school aged children enjoyed it as much as their Grandmother did. There is also a small cafe on premises so stay awhile and have some tea in the shade.
Woodstock is not just a spay and neuter clinic, they also do pet adoptions. They are the only non euthanizing pet "shelter" in Lexington. They handle cats, dogs and sometimes other pets like rabbits. In addition to spaying and neuteringin house they also have a mobile spay and neuter clinic , you may call to set up a date for the mobile clinic to be in your area. They are often at petsmart on weekends with pets available for adoption. Woodstock operates only on donations and volunteer help. One of dogs and one of our cats came from woodstock and have been terrific pets so far.
We were referred to them by our normal plumber recently when he could not schedule us in quickly enough. Buford & Son are very brusque in manner and very choosy about the work they accept. For instance they would not come out for a clogged drain as it was not a large enough job for them to undertake. Perhaps not a good fit for the average homeowner just needing run of the mill repairs. Although they have been to our home once before to reapir a bad leak and did good work, we will not waste our time asking them to return again.
This is the only place we take our cars to be fixed. They have been great for us even fxing things that another company in town did completely wrong. Their work has always been good and has always taken a reasonable amount of time to get get done. They are great about giving an estimate and also about recovery work to find the problem , then deducting that amount from your bill when you get the work done. Their prices are very reasonable and most importantly, my wife, having grown up as the daughter of a mechanic in another state, trusts them as well as the work they do.
