I really lik the slone's meat department. They always have good steaks for a weekend grill, you can buy precut pieces or you can buy a bigger tenderloin and have it sliced to fit your needs. In the last couple of years they have added sushi in the deli department, and in their Landsdowne location they have added a small coffee shop. Slones carries many specialty items that are hard to find in our bigger chain stores here in Lexington. Slones is a family company and has the feel of shopping with your neighbor, checkout lanes are still small and they will unload your cart for you as well as bag your purchases and even take them out for you if need be. Look for their sales flyer in the Wed. paper to find their weekly sales and often some great deals, especially in their meat department.
Sandy's sells High Quality Machines by Husqvarna and others. One thing that sets her store apart is her 100% trade up policy with Husqvarna machines. If you trade in your Husqvarna within a year of purchase you get the entire purchase price toward the next one you buy. This also means she has many quality pre-owned machines all the time
This little place was a real find. We stumbled on it one day wandering around the Richmond Road area. They have some of the most beautiful batik fabrics you can find outside of Paducah
Hurst has a nice selection of quality band instruments. If they don't have it they can get. it. They are always willing to spend time with musicians to make sure they make the right choice. They also have one of the bigger more organized selections of sheet music in town. The store is always very clean compared to other store in town and I've always been greeted kindly and with a smile from very knowledgeable, friendly staff. This is the best choice store for people who are serious about their instrument and want good customer serice as well.
Campbell House has been fixture in Lexington for a long time. In the last year or so they have undergone an amazing transformation. Ican easily reccommend nyone to have guests and family stay there when visiting.
Ovation is where I go for the higher end KLipsch speakers. They seem to be only dealer in the area that carries the Klipsch speakers I am normally interested. The staff is a little aloof if you don't seem to meet the profile of an audiophile spender.
Paa was recommended to me by a friend at work, We have been very pleased particularly with Dr Bush as well as Dr. Bennett. Both our girls are very fond of these Dr.s, they have helped us through everything from a common cold to some other more serious conditions and have continually been very kind and caring to our children. Going for shots there is not the nightmare it has been in the past with other Dr.'s, our 7 year old raves about the last time she had a shot and recently when we thought she may need a tetnus shot rather than cry she said only if Dr. Bush does it. Great bunch of Dr.'s and nurses in the facility.
Joseph Beth always has what I am looking for in the way of computer books. They out do the national chain store with a much better selection in fiction as well..I really appreciate the staff picks. They often have guest authors for adults and children. The children's section is huge with a play area, and an area to gather around for story time or one of the many other children's entertainment acts they have. Discounts are available for teachers as well as anyone buying books to donate to Books for Children if they are left in the deposit on site.
I always enjoy going to this store. They have a good selection of the latest bestsellers. They only sell used paperbacks. They also take used paperbacks in trade. I always find something I like to read here.
If it ever arrives. We attempted to purchase a small table and it never arrived after it was ordered. There were always reasonable excuses when we called but they never called us to explain. Poor customer service will doom this business unless they change their strategies.
