Willy's Mexicana Grill - Downtown/Peachtree Center
When I went to college, I used to go to Willy's at least twice a week. After graduating and not having a Willy's nearby, I'm in constant withdrawl. Willy's makes the best burritos I've ever had. They are freshly made in front of you, have great toppings, and are huge which make them a great deal. I love this place and miss it so much.
Ru San's Midtown
Ru San's is my favorite sushi place. They have a great atmosphere either in their Midtown or Buckhead locations. It is always a fun time whenever I go, especially when sake bombs are involved. They have a special $1 menu, where you can get 3 pieces of various sushi for $1. I stick to that menu and order up a storm and always leave full and satisfied. Ru San's is an amazing place, go check it out for a great time.
The Cedar Tree
This was one of my favorite places in Atlanta since it was so close to Emory right in Emory Village. It had some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever eaten. The food there is very cheap but also on the small side so if you are hungry, you should order more than one thing. The best were the Greek pizzas and felafal which was some of the best I've ever had. I really miss this place.
Top Spice Thai & Malaysian Csn
Top Spice is a very fancy restaurant in the North Druid HIlls area. It is nicely located in Druid Hills Mall. When I lived in Calibre Woods right on La Vista, we used to go here often. The place is very nicely decorated, sorta like a fusion restaurant with neat colors all around. The dishes were great, I like the mango chicken, but it's a bit more expensive than other places. Great date place.
Thai Chili Cuisine
This is my favorite Thai place in Atlanta. It is located very close to Emory on the corner of LaVista and Briarcliff. It is a casual place with a very nice menu with all different curries. I like the green chicken curry personally. The rice and drinks are also excellent. For dessert, try the fried ice cream, it was amazing. A great place for a great meal.
Doc Chey's Noodle House
Doc Chey's is located right in Emory Village for easy access. It is not really authentic Thai food, but more of a fusion Americanized version but still very tasty. The prices are very reasonable and their menu is very flexible in terms of what you want to add in your dish. Try to avoid Friday nights and weekends as it tends to get crowded. All in all, a great place for an afternoon lunch.
Queen Sheba Ethiopian
I am always up for trying food from different countries, but to this day, nothing is probably as unique to me as Ethiopian food. Queen of Sheba was a great introduction to this wonderful cuisine. It is a very unique experience. I went with an Ethiopian friend which helped but a novice can be helped by the great staff. The most unique thing about this place is that you are not given plates to eat on, rather there is one large dish in the center of the table that the whole group eats from. It was a great experience.
Everybody's Pizza
Everybody's is located right in Emory Village across from the main gate into campus on North Decatur. It was a great place to hang out. On a beautiful evening, my friends would often meet there, grab a few pizzas, then discuss our plans for the evening on the beautiful patio. This place has a great laid back atmosphere and their pizza is great. My favorite was the garlic and pineapple pie, yum.
Fellini's Pizza
Fellini's is a landmark establishment in Atlanta. They have restaurants throughout the city but I went to the one on Ponce de Leon most often. It is a great place with seating outside to enjoy on a cool summer evening with friends and family. The pies are all great, but I usually stuck with plain cheese and it was great. The drinks are great too and after dinner, you are so close to Buckhead that you can hit the bars. Great place to hang out.
