Atlantic Video rentals is the place to go if you need to rent or buy Indian or Pakistani movies. They have a large collection of CD's, DVD's, audio tapes and videos. They even have an online store but i have not tried that. I always rent instore and have had no problems. I recommend Atlantic Video rental.
This is one of the several souvenir shops located in the Stockyards. It has a lot of Southwestern art. I wanted to buy some gifts for my friends and also something for myself to remind me of my trip here. I bought some glass art and also some silver jewellery from here and everyone liked their gifts.
Arbuckle wilderness advertises itself as Oklahoma's premier exotic animal theme park. My friends and i visited this attraction on our way to Turner falls. We did the drive-thru safari where for a fee (14.99 for adults and 12.99 for kids) you can drive through the park and view animals like the ostriches, giraffes, deer moving around freely in their natural environment. You can purchase animal feed and stop and feed the animals. It was fun experience for the kids and the adults enjoyed it too.
Turner falls is located just outside of Dallas. I went to Turner falls with a few friends this summer. We enjoyed wading in the pools and picknicking here. There are lifeguards for your safety and changing and picnic areas available here. Although we din't camp, there are facilities for camping overnight. The rates and park info is available in their website http://www.turnerfallspark.com/index.htm. I recommend a trip to Turner falls as a fun break during a hot summer.
Funasia is a cultural and entertainment centre for the South Asian community in Dallas. It currently has three branches in Dallas. Funasia has a dance club. a movie theatre, a restaurant and banquet halls. There is also an arcade where the kids can play video games. I enjoy going to the movies here. There are 2 for 1 specials for movie tickets on certain days. It is a fun place to go and spend the evening for the entire family.
I needed to buy some ski wear for one of my trips and my friends who have shopped at Doug and Linda's before suggested i try this place. It was a good suggestion and I found a good variety of ski clothing and accessories here. I always try to shop during the sales and I got a good deal here too.
Every semester we get the Northlake college course catalog for Adult and continuing education listing the various credit and non-credit earning courses that you can sign up for. There are fun courses like dancing, jazzercise, kickboxing, keyboard lessons, painting, drawing, ceramic painting and the like. The classes do not cost much for residents of the area and are a good way to further your interests/hobbies and also meet new people. The classes may not always be held on-campus like the beginner's dance class that we checked out that was held in a studio downtown. If you are loking for a cost-effective way to further your interest then the Northlake community college Adult and continuing education classes are the way to go.
For fresh produce, nothing beats the Dallas farmer's market. You can browse through stall after stall of fresh fruits, vegetables and a whole lot more like nuts and spices and even pasta. All the products in the market are from local farmers who bring their home-grown produce to sell them directly to the customers. I usually shop at the farmer's market on sundays and have always got the best produce at affordable prices.
I used the Cowboys Cab for an early morning ride to the airport. I called the previous day and scheduled the pickup. A very friendly person took my call and told me that the cab would be there at the scheduled time the next morning and it was. The cab driver even helped me with my luggage and I was there at the airport on time. I highly recommend Cowboys Cab company
A friend told me that the swimming pool at Northlake community college was open to the public everday for a few hours. I decided to check it out this summer. They charge one dollar and fifty cents for each visit and it gets even more affordable if you pay for a period like 3 months. They offer two seperate pools, one for the beginners with less depth and another pool with a deep-end. The water is not overly chlorinated but definitely clean. They also offer a closed pool for the winter. Northlake natatorium is a good place to get your daily aerobic exercise.
