If you're looking for an authentic, traditional Grand Strand beach destination, this is your place. Huntington Beach State Park is a good place to go if you want to stay away from high-rises and see nature's beauty at the ocean. It also has an old castle/mansion that is fun to explore.
I have been to the Carolina Opry at least five times over the last few decades, and each show has been very good. The Christmas show is a must-see as are the normal music shows the rest of the season. This is one of the few places I would return to time and time again.
I saw Kenny Rogers live at the Alabama theater in 2004 and he did not disappoint! The theater always has top-notch performers, and every seat in the place gives you a good view of the stage. The prices can be a little expensive, but it's worth it when you get a good show. If you only have one night for entertainment in Myrtle Beach, go here.
Despite not having the newest or largest theater, Inlet Square Cinemas is a good spot to relax on a rainy day. They do a good job of staying current with new releases. Not having stadium seating is a negative though, although it is nice to have a theater located close to the south-end beaches.
Tropical Adventure Mini Golf doesn' t offer much that any other course in this area doesn't have, but it's still a great place to take the family. Be sure to visit after a big seafood meal down the street and enjoy the cool breezes when you play a round of golf after dark.
Frank's had a good supply of fisherman-related items, including some clothes. We ended up buying a t-shirt there but spent a lot longer just browsing at the great stuff. The prices are a little steep, but the store is located in the touristy Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco.
I had two problems with this dealership while having service done. First, they didn't fix the problem on my Jeep that another garage fixed on the first try. Secondly, when I checked out after having the oil changed they told me it was covered under warranty. A few weeks later, I started receiving phone calls and letters about paying for it. Please, make up your mind.
Coop's is a very good health and fitness club. I was a member there on two separate occasions and enjoyed most of it. There are about 10 treadmills, but they can become busy during the "rush hour" (before and after work). One major plus is that Coop's is open 24-hours during the week.
I've been coming to Dockside for nearly 25 years, and I can still say that it's my favorite restaurant in the world! It's very simple and mainly fried, but the fried shrimp and oysters are amazing. Dockside has mastered the "Calabash style" of cooking, serving lightly breaded shrimp by the plateful. We try to make the one-hour drive up to Calabash every time we visit the SC coast.
PROS: Calabash shrimp
Marvin has been cutting my hair for nearly 20 years and still does a great job. He's good for a lengthy conversation as well. Be sure to call ahead though unless you're coming in the middle of the day because he can get very busy. Prices generally run $17 for a mens' cut.
