Buddy's Corner Store Inc
For the last twenty years or more, Buddy's has been a landmark, and with their recent remodelling, it's actually a neat little convenience store now. The employees are friendly and the service is quick.
Lucky Brand Jeans
Although Lucky jeans are my absolute favorite, I don't recommend going to the mother store simply because you can find them cheaper elsewhere -- anywhere else, really. Especially when other places in that mall have sales.
Cold Stone Creamery
Coming in from out of town, this ice cream chain has some fierce competition in this city's ice cream. But Cold Stone holds its own. They've got lots of preconcieved options for crazy ice cream!
Austin Gift Co
A great place for tourists looking for cheap Austin gifts or a place for natives to remind themselves of their city, this little store is a consignment shop that has everything you could think of and a little bit more. For example, I love their collection of jewelry made completely out of silverware. The employees aren't too friendly, usually, but at least they leave you alone while you're perusing!
Regal Westgate Stadium 11
This theater caters to a crowd of fanatic moviegoers who always want to be there for the midnight release. Being one of them, I've seen that Westgate handles the load of people better and quicker than any other theater I've experienced. Plus, the arm rests are foldable.
Wendy's
Everbody who goes to UT loves Wendy's, or so it seems. However, there are closer locations to campus that run busier. If you're over on MLK, it won't be busy and it is open late.
Applebee's Neighborhood Grill
I love this restraunt. Yes, it's a total chain but it tries its best to exemplify Austin's atmosphere. The waiters are fun and the oriental chicken wrap is spectacular.
Waterloo Records & Video
While this really is Austin's music store, with live performances going on all the time and more local music than you'd believe, it's not the place to go if you're looking for a CD you could find somewhere else. The prices are steep and the lines are long.
Best Buy
The employees here are always really helpful, almost obnoxiously helpful. And the CDs are always a great deal, compared to other music stores. There are usually specials, too.
Linens 'N Things
I searched everywhere for cheap, nice sheets for college. I tried department stores and competing linen stores. I came back to Linens N Things after realizing they have the best deals in the area. Of course, they're packed with everything else you could think of. And the discounts I found were all for back-to-school, so I recommend you keep your eye out for incredible discounts. Try them at the beginning of the fall!
