O'Brien's Bakery

Quincy, MA Bakers & Bakeries 12/29/05: 'Good neighborhood bakery'

When I want "comfort" bakery food, I stop by O'Brien's. Their birthday cakes remind me of the cakes I had when I was a kid, with sugary icing. They have good Irish soda bread. I really like O'Brien's; I wouldn't go there for a wedding cake, but I definitely would for a birthday cake. The parking is awful, but that's Wollaston!

The Gingerbread Construction Company is truly a treat. The muffins are very large. The gingerbread muffins and the lemon muffins are my favorites, but I've never had anything from here that I didn't enjoy.

Stop & Shop Supermarket

Holbrook, MA Grocery Stores 12/29/05: 'Neighboorhood store'

This Stop and Shop is a smaller supermarket; if you're looking for a new, "super store" this isn't it. I don't typically do my major shopping here, but it's convenient if I need to run in quickly to pick something up.

Whole Foods Market

I love Whole Foods and was thrilled when they oponed in Hingham. This is a great shopping experience, clean and spacious. The bakery and prepared foods are excellent!

Aveni Cleaners

I do a ton of drycleaning with Aveni and I'm always happy with the results. I usually use the same day service and my clothes are always ready when promised. they open at 7 so you can do an early pick up if you need to. Great service and friendly employees!

South Shore Plaza

Braintree, MA Shopping Centers & Malls 12/29/05: 'Typical mall'

I've been going to the South Shore Plaza since I was a kid and while they've made a lot of improvements, they're really just a typical mall with all of the mall stores that you'd expect to find.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers

Braintree, MA Book Stores 12/29/05: 'Great place to browse'

Whenever I have some free time I love to go to Barnes and Noble and just browse. I always find something to buy and, since I belong to their preferred reader club I get an extra 10% off. Starbucks is great, too!

Bath & Body Works

Bath and Body Works has branched out from their own lines and now carries products from Molton Brown, C.O. Bigelow and Frederic Fekkai, to name a few. I love it that I can get these products easily and locally!

Sephora

Sephora is one of my favorite stores. They carry brands that you won't find in department stores. You can take your time, checking everything out and trying on products, and noone will rush you.

Roto Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service

Randolph, MA Plumbers 12/29/05: 'Roto rooter to thr rescue!'

We've had a slow bathtub drain for ages. We tried every drain opener that's on the market; some would help marginally, but the problem would always return. We finally called Roto Rooter. They came out the same day and the drain now works perfectly! I wish we had called them long ago!
