David's Bridal Burbank lost my wedding dress. I followed all the rules, ordered the dress months in advance, had my alteration appointment. Not more than 3 hours before my appointment to come pick it up, I get a call from them stating that they have misplaced my wedding gown and it is nowhere to be found. They said that they would order me a new one and graciously waive the alteration fee on the new dress as if this makes it better. I'm astounded that they could lose a dress and have the audacity to state that "it's not a problem, we've re-ordered it and we'll even waive the alteration fee!" I demanded a refund for the entire purchase which they gave me begrudgingly. These people are ridiculous. What really irriates me is that my bridesmaids already ordered their dresses from there and I don't want to give this stupid store another dime. Once again, how do you lose a frickin wedding dress???
I was eating at a cafe down the road and took a walk after lunch and happened upon Heritage Book Shop. What a find! This place carries rare, hard to find books, first editions, you name it! My dad collects books like these and I found a couple for his birthday present. The store also stocks artwork and autographs and other goodies. They also have book fairs. Great staff.
PROS: Great for browsing turn to buying!
I was going on a trip and felt terrible about boarding my dog. I shopped around and found The Dog House. I particularly loved that it was cage free! The Dogs get to play together, grouped by size and personality. Seeing that he would get to play all day made me feel much better. This place is priced a bit higher than a caged place, but if you feel that your pet is part of your family, this place is fantastic!
PROS: cage free
I'm always trying out new yoga studios and this one has wonderful classes. There are tons of classes throughout the day, varying in styles and prices, so you can always find a great class to take. Prices are average for yoga studios in the area. Make sure to get there early, as parking is a problem!
PROS: great instructors
I discovered this place through a friend. She begged me to try Yoga Booty Ballet with her. I went along and fell in love with the class. It's a mixture of yoga, cardio, balance, and weight training. It's awesome! You feel so great afterward. They have good pricing packages! Check it out. They're very female motivating! Must try at least once!!!
PROS: great workout!
We discovered Frankie's one night driving along Melrose. We stopped in and were greeted by Frankie himself. Since then, we've been back dozens of times. The food is so great. Muscles, Linguine with Clams, Calamari, Raviloi, you name it. We've tried it and loved it. Good prices. Very dark and romantic place. We love Frankies!
Lala's is so the place to for Argentinian food! I am addicted to their grilled salmon, but people really go here for the steaks. The Entrana is DIVINE! And the prices are incredible. You can eat for under $15 per person. Great mashed potatoes. Fun outdoor patio that has a great view of Melrose! Great place for dates or with friends.
PROS: great food, great price
CONS: long wait on weekends
I discovered this little sushi place through a friend. She said that the sushi simply melts in your mouth. She was right! This place is amazing. Fresh fresh fish truly does melt in your mouth. Try the eggplant tempura topped with spicy tuna. Rock shrimp tempura hand rolls are also amazing. Great food. Regular sushi prices.
PROS: fresh fish, great selections, unique rolls and dishes
CONS: long wait, closed on Mondays
I am in love with this place. Not only does the menu go on for days, (you could eat anything your heart desires) but the customer service is top notch. This is truly the epitome of a neighborhood coffee shop. These folks care about their customers and the food is divine! Best breakfast in LA!!! Hands down. Lunch and dinner are perfect as well. Great prices. I just Love Nick's!!!
PROS: great food, great prices, great staff
CONS: long wait on weekends
I had to recently get my car smoged and was looking for a place in the nearby vacinity. This place came up on an internet search. The price was fair and average, around $50 for the smog. The guy working the desk gave me a AAA discount even though I didn't have my card with me. Very pleasant staff and true to their word of 16 minutes. I was in and out!
