This is the place to be for gyros. They have an excellent selection of foods and drinks, that really appeals to a vegetarian like me. I like the atmosphere, although I have others refer to it as "low quality". This is my favoruite place to go for a quick down town lunch. The prices are reasonable, and the food is authentic greek. For you non-vegetarians, ask about "shaorma". (pronounced shwahrmah)
This company provides property rental and on-site management. The rents are reasonable. I found some really nice duplex houses, with fireplace, wood floors, wood ceilings, washer dryer, brick walls, 3 bedroom, great view by a lake.... This business is worth calling to see what they have available since they have many, many locations around town. They are slow to return your phonecall, so don't hesitate to call them again, if you don't get asistance fast enough.
PROS: many locations
CONS: slow return on calls
I went here to look for clothes for my wife when she was heavily pregnant, and most clothes did not fit her anymore. I did not buy anything here, because even though this is noted as a Plus store, it should be named Plus Plus Plus store. I think most big women would be happy to go here and find that they are too small to fit in any of these garments. The sales staff is friendly, there is a large variety of sizes and clothes at a good value. Ample parking available. It is a little difficult to find the sizes, and somewhat annoying that they want to sign you up for a mailing list.
Hesitant and not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. The store is very clean, and looks inviting. The isles are a little confusing, I didn't know where to find what I was looking for. I ended up asking the girl at the register, and she showed me 2 versions of what I wanted and explained the difference to me. She also took the items out of the package to make sure this is what I wanted. The she got me an unopened package for me to buy. I would go here again. This is not a "dirty" place like the adult video places in the area, and I would recommend it for couples. Awesome selection on board games that focus on your relationship (not focusing on sex). ("an enchanting evening" is my favorite game to reflect on how much my wife and I care for eachother)
Orca Books is a local bookstore. The selection is enormous. The prices on new and used books is very good. It doesn't stop at books. They also sell stationary (good selection), and they offer talks with local authors. Ask about book clubs, since they offer this, too. It's the perfect place to get in from the rain, sit down and have a cup of coffee, while browsing through books.
You can go here to buy or sell used CD's. They also sell new CD's, imported CD's, and Tee shirts. The Trading Post has a good selection, and the quality is guaranteed. If the CD is skipping they will refund your money. If you go here to sell your CD they pay a generous amount compared to other stores in of same business.
The antique mall is 3 stories of antiques and collectibles. It is entertaining to search through all the clutter for treasures. There is lots of stuff, although poorly presented. Most things are a tad overpriced. If you go to the third floor, you can see light from the second floor through the cracks in the floorboards. (same holds true for if you look up at the ceiling from the second floor.) This does not give you a very safe feeling. I wonder if the building is up to code?
This doll store has a great selection of collectible dolls and toys. The prices are reasonable. There is lots of merchandise crammed into a small space. Customer service is excellent. The store is run by a wonderful woman named Barb. It is located in the basement of the rustic Crown Point court house.
Tammys Ceramics is in a central location. The selection is great, the wonderful staff is very helpful. The prices are very reasonable. If you ask, the staff will help you with your painting and teach you new techniques. Work from local artisans is on display for purchasing. Tammy's ceramics also offers classes on basics and techniques. I would have thought this place just for adults, but surprisingly enough, they have room available for childrens' parties. This place rocks!
We encountered this place en route to our home in Olympia. For some reason, I thought I could drive straight through Oregon from Central California. By the time we arrived in Florence, it was evident that I could not continue driving further, and so we made a quick survey of the local accommodations. We discovered that among those our budget could accommodate, The Lighthouse Inn was absolutely the best deal.
The value of a stay goes beyond the rustic, relatively large rooms, and the typical "touristy" accommodations. We felt safe in a strange town when we stayed there. The keepers of the place were congenial, and very helpful, even after the front desk had already closed.
The king size bedroom had a gas fireplace, a tv, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There were nice window dressings, a couch with coffe table, incuding a nice assortment of books. It was clean and comfortable. It felt as though we were guests in someone's home, rather than a room at a motel where every room is an identical copy.
Considering the circumstances, it was a lucky find. We plan to stay there again.
