Silver City has been around for over 20 years, and there's a reason they're still around. They are not the largest comic store in Columbia but they make up for it with service. Their employees know what they're talking about and alwys love to talk to you about your favorite book. They are happy to handle your pull requests every week and always have my books ready and totaled up for me when I come in. They also sell pen and paper games and collectible toys.
This is a great place for homeless people to go because it is always littered with abandoned clothes. I used to always go in and see dirty shirts and underwear on the floor that had been abandoned by someone. They try to make this place fujn by offering TVs and serving drinks and food, but the food has never tasted good and I just don't have an interest in consuming alcohol while I'm doing my laundry. Plus, I had my clothes stolen several times. Apparently a lot of vagrants and thieves visit here. I've also had someone pour die into my machine and ruin several shirts.
I used Columbialand Realty based on the recommendation of a friend. I was reluctant to at first because I wanted a larger realtor company since I assumed they would have better access to properties and larger markets. Columbialand however really gave me a lot of personal service and had plenty of properties to show me. I even felt a bit guilty because I kept having them show me so many properties and felt like I was taking up too much of their time, but they never complained. I woiuld definitely recommend them to others.
I've been seing Dr. Dingle for about 4 years now and am never disappointed. One great thing about them is that I never have to wait long. I don't even bother getting a magazine because they always call me back within 5 minutes. Dr. DIngle has great bedside manner and always treats me with respect. What's more, you get a free toothbrush when you leave. I always feel like my teeth are in good hands with Dr. Dingle.
I won't go back to this place. It was very dirty. I realize that many pet places are probably dirty, but this one seemed like it was dirty because the employees just didn't care. A lot of the animals appeared depressed. That's a wierd thing to say but they just didn't appear very happy. Toys were scattered on the ground, as if some kid had been playing with them and they employees hadn't cleaned them up.
Not only does this place have fish, but turtles and salamanders too. They have great service and if you get a fish that dies a few days later they will replace it with a new fish for free until you get one that works. You can bring in samples of your water and they will do free tests to see if your water quality is acceptable. They care so much about the lives of fish that they one time refused to sell me any new fish because my water quality was so bad. I was upset at the time but am glad now. I was so impatient to get some new fish I didn't think how dangerous my tank could be. They gave me some PH stuff to clear up my water and then sold me some new fish. All of those fish died a few days later but my tank was very clear and looked great. They even refunded my money for the dead fish.
While they have a great selection of fish, they don't have as large a selection of fish supplies as some of the other stores.
Cedar terrace hardware is a great store that has the misfortune of being located in the back of a smaller shopping center. This is unfortunate because it's such a great store. The staff is the same staff that has been there for years and they are very knowledgeable about anything you could have questions about. They even give away free nails sometimes. That's right, free nails. I only needed a single nail and I received it at no charge. And this was a big nail too, about 8 inches and I think it cost 50 cents. I forgot what happened to the nail but I didn't forget the great service.
I took my mom to this place and got her a gift certificate because she loves to make scrapbooks. I don't think there are too many scrapbook stores in Columbia, probably because this place keeps them out of business with their large selection of paper and scissors and tape. Have you ever tried to find purple tape before but couldn't? That wouldn't have been a problem if you had gone to Carolina Scrapbooks first. They not only have purple tape, but have several different shades and sizes of purple tape. I bought several for my mom and usually give her a new one on special occasions like birthdays.
They also offer instructional classes every Tuesday where they give you new tips for better scrapbook making. These classes are always free and are pretty good. I don't enjoy scrapbooking but I sat in on one and had a great time cutting stuff up and gluing it.
I've been using Ritz for over 20 years for my development needs, and they've always been great. My film is not always developed as quickly as other places, but then again, I almost never have problems with the rolls. I've had thousands of pictures developed with them and they very rarely screw up my photos. And if they do, they will give me the roll for free. They also now offer a lot of computer options, such as placing your photos on a CD and selling a good selection of digital cameras.
I use this place mainly for their boarding facilities, which are superb. They also will groom your animal for free when you board them, which includes washing and cutting their nails. I've used them twice for medical care and have always been pleased. My dog seems to feel at home there and they don't get mad and yell at him when he urinates on the floor like some other places.
