Queen of Martyrs School

I enjoyed my K-8 education at Queen of Martyrs. I had the usual ups and downs that any kid would have socially, but the education was top notch.

My only complaint would be that I think they could do a better job of preparing kids for high school. I tested very high on the high school entrance exam and was accepted into an Honors program in high school. When I got there, I felt like I was way behind, particularly in math.

All in all though, I have pretty fond memories of my time there.

Marist High School

Although I wasn't the best student when I went there, I definitely appreciated the education that I received from Marist. I feel like they really prepared me well for college.

My only complaints were: 1. That they didn't have more 'technical based'rade courses that a public high school might have. and 2. That they waited until I graduated to go co-ed! :)

Tone Productions Dj Services

It sounds cliche, but the DJ truly does make the party. We were between Tone and a few other DJ's that we had priced out in the area. In the end, we said 'what the heck' and spent a little more on Tone. The service was outstanding. They not only did a great job with the music and getting people involved, but they were also on top of everything else that was going on (drinks, food, pictures, etc.) We didn't have to worry about a thing all evening, and we really appreciate the job Louie and Tone did at our reception. We would highly recommend them.

Chateau Del Mar Incorporated

We had our wedding reception here. It is a beautiful place on the inside and one of the best bargains you'll find in the area. I think it gets overlooked due to the fact that the building is a little ways off from the street. We had a great time and absolutely no problems.

PROS: Ambiance, Price
CONS: None.

Beverly Costume Shop

I've had some great experiences with this store. They have a good selection and can order you anything they don't have. I've used them the last couple years for an annual Christmas event (we usually order a dozen or so Santa suits) and they've delivered every time.

Gem Electric Supply

I was looking for some new fixtures for the bathroom and had looked around at the big hardware stores and couldn't find anything that looked good at a reasonable price. Stopped by GEM, since I remembered it from way back when my father took me there. They had a great selection and the prices were excellent. Left after ordering the two fixtures I needed.

PETSMART

I like the selection and prices at this store in terms of merchandise, but I think the grooming service could be better. We have taken our dog to get her nails done a few times, and only once were they done well. They seem to be a little too eager to get the job done quickly instead of doing a quality job.

Precious Paws Inc.

I was generally pleased with the service they provided. We got the dog washed and her nails done. It was done fairly quckly and our dog smelled great! :)

Jewel-Osco

This is one of the sadder Jewel stores I've been too. It's dark and dingy, has a poor selection of produce, and is more expensive than Meijer and Food 4 Less.

Mejier

Let me preface this review by saying that despite its faults, we find ourselves shopping at Meijer every week.

First the negatives: 1. The signage at both Bolingbrook stores is HORRENDOUS. Sale items are rarely signed, which probably causes most people to buy more expensive items and lose out in the end. I have to literally shop with one eye on the circular. 2. The customer service is pretty slow. The majority of the check out people they have working there are SLOW. Especially when it comes to produce. We have had cashiers on two occasions just start ringing up random things instead of taking the time to identify the item correctly. One even thought he was doing us a favor by throwing all of the produce on there and charging us one price for it (he wasn't of course, since the other items were cheaper). 3. The produce and meat sections are always poorly stocked. They just can't simply keep up with the traffic going through the store. It doesn't seem to matter what day or time of day it is. I consistently have a hard time trying to find what I need.

Positives: Their prices beat Jewel and Dominick's hands down. Food 4 Less might give them a run for their money though.

All in all, I shop there every week because their prices on the things that I buy are the best. However, their weaknesses are really starting to wear me down.
