I attended a wedding reception at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. The hotel sits right on the beach in an area of Waikiki that is not so congested. As you drive out of Waikiki towards Diamond Head and past the Waikiki Aquarium, you will see the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel on your right. It is an older hotel that is quite charming. The wedding was on the grounds of the hotel and the banquet was very nice. The staff provided excellent service and the reception food was very good. We got to walk around the grounds of the hotel which is very small but nice.
We always eat at the restaurants at the Waiklele Center after we shop at the Waikele Premium Outlets. We usually eat at Kozo Sushi or Chilis. We like to eat at Kozo Sushi because it's a fun environment to eat in. They sell sushi with different toppings that move along in plates on a conveyer belt that runs by your table. You can choose which sushi plate you want and take it off of the conveyer belt. You will get charged by the color of your plate. This is a great place to eat, especially for kids. Lots of parking outside.
We always shop at Waikele Premium Outlets because they have a large number of outlet stores on one side and a large variety of restaurants and eateries on the other side. My favorite place to shop at is The Gap, Levis Outlet Store and Local Motion. The Waikele stores are large and nicely decorated. Their Gap store and Local Motion store is newer than the stores at Ala Moana Shopping Center. We bought a lot of clothes for my daughter at reasonable prices at the Gap and Local Motion. There is a lot of parking and it's not as crowded as Ala Moana Center.
This store is mostly for tourists that come here to shop for last-minute items and for Hawaiian souvenirs. They also sell groceries, liquor, drugs, cosmetics, film, suntan lotion and beach supplies. Sometimes they have very good specials on t-shirts where you can buy 3 for $10 or 4 for $20. I usually come here to buy snacks or beverages. Their prices for snack items are reasonable as well as some of their souvenir items. It's hard to find parking here at the Ala Moana Shopping Center.
I attended the University of Hawaii for about 5 years and majored in Business. I also worked while I attended college to pay for my tuition and books. Even though it took me a long time to graduate it was well worth it. I enjoyed my college years at the University of Hawaii. The professors were great and I took my classes mainly in the Business Building which was fairly new when I attended classes there. Most of my professors were very knowledgeable in their fields and they made my classes very interesting. I was also able to be involved in an internship program abroad through the college. I will never forget my experiences at this college.
Occasionally I go to the Hawaii Opera Theatre for outstanding performances. I saw Carole Channing perform in the story of The Flying Dutchman, an opera about a tormented sea captain and redeeming love. This was a great show and she performed with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra which is always outstanding. She had a glorious voice and the sets were stunning! I'm glad that they have a live opera theater that serves the Hawaii community.
I frequently dine at the Aloha Tower Marketplace with friends. So far I have eaten at Chai's Island Bistro and Singha Thai. Both are wonderful restaurants that serve island style and Asian food but I really enjoy dining at Chai's Island Bistro because of their local entertainmnent. They have big name entertainers that perform on weekends at Chiai's Island Bistro. I alread saw the Cazimero Brothers who are one of my favorite entertainers. I love their classic Hawaiian songs and I love hearing their melodious voices. There is a flat fee for parking at the Aloha Tower Marketplace or you can have valet parking.
The Compleat Kitchen sells a variety of kitchen items from bowls to kitchen gadgets. They also sell a nice variety of kitchen knives that are imported from Germany and Japan. Their german kitchen knives are stylish and come in various styles and sizes. I bought a chef/vegetable knife for our kitchen and it works perfectly well. It is still very sharp and cuts vegetables without any problems. I am planning to buy more German made knives from The Compleat Kitchen soon.
The Ward Centre has very nice apparel shops for women. One of my favorite apparel stores is MisFortune which is a boutique that sells stylish women's clothing. They have clothes that range from $7 to $289 but most are around $70. They sell dresses by China Doll and handbags and wallets by T-bags. They also carry cool gifts (like astrological candles) and accessories such as Goth inspired necklaces and belt buckles. Its hard to leave this store with nothing. There is also a lot of parking out in the front. You can even get valet parking if you want to.
The clothes at this store are very beautiful and stylish. I bought a skirt here made of rayon and polyester with a tropical print. I also bought a sleeveless white blouse to go with it. I never had a problem with their clothes because the fabrics are good quality and their sewing is top notch. The clothes are pricey but it is worth it because their clothes are perfect for the work place since they are classy and stylish.
