The public library in Lafayette is a nice small public library. They don't have a wide range of materials on the shelves but they are a part of the Chambers county library system and they are more than willing to get items from other libraries for you. They have a nice selection of children's books, videos and dvds. The library is small but they have a nice reading area for children with some small toys for them to play with. The library sets in a historic old church and the librarian was more than willing to take my boys into the old building and show them around. They were very friendly and helpful.
PROS: Friendly and helpful, nice but limited selection of books
CONS: only open in the afternoons and saturday morning
I was looking for some thread to complete a project I was working on. I had tried all the big stores and couldn't find what I was looking for. I found Chris's and was pleasantly suprised at the quality and variety of thread and other needlecraft supplies that were on hand. I found what I needed and the staff was very helpful. I wasn't able to take any classes at Chris's but I think they would be very enjoyable and informative.
and I found this store. They had a nice supply of decorator items and especially Christmas items. I didn't find what I had been shopping for but was able to find some suitable items for gifts that I needed. The staff was friendly and courteous.
This farm offers a great day trip for families. They have a lot of regular farm animals which children can see up close. They have rabbits which children can hold and pet. They have rescued dogs and cats. Several times a day they do shows and the one with the dogs is very cute. They also have a farm play area for children. The kids loved climbing through the barn and swinging into the hay loft. This is a little ways outside of St. Louis but it was definitely worth the trip.
This sounds like a kids store, they really have clothing for the entire family. Over half the store is dedicated to children's items but they have a nice selection of adult clothes too. The items are nicer namebrands and the prices are very fair. The children's area is very nice and they have a large play area. They have a meeting area for playgroups. They have a little sandwich/coffee area too with healthy alternatives to fast foods.
When we first rented this apartment we thought it would be a nice secluded apartment. When we moved in, the first night our hotwater heater blew up and we stayed in a hotel. Then we discovered that the apartment had fleas. We had two very small children and it was terrible. We had to have the place sprayed three times. They also had ducks on the property which we loved to watch but they were a pain when they pooped on our patio. We moved before the end of the lease. They came back a year later and charged us for moving out. Definitely would not recommend this apartment.
This is a wonderful homeschool store. They have a wide variety of curriculum sources. It is great to be able to go into a store and actually look at a book before you buy it. They also have a small play area for young children. Behind the children's area they have an area to sell used books that you are finished with. The staff is very helpful. They were able to tell me when they were expecting certain books and even offered to call me when they came it. Very nice store, clean, tidy and relaxing.
This is a great bookstore. They have a wide selection of Christian books, gifts and cds. They also have a very nice children's area. They even have a good selection of homeschool items and curriculum. Very nice store and the staff is always help. This is a family owned business and they are great to do business with.
I stopped in Moms to see what kind of things they carry. First of all if you are looking for something particular go someplace else. This place is so packed they couldn't find something if they had it. They had some toys out front but I thought most of the toys they had were dirty looking even for a second hand store. I only stopped in once because even though I like to visit thrift stores and find a bargain, this place was overwhelming.
This is an excellent little park. They have small animals and most are not behind bars and cages so it is easy for small children to see them. They have a small petting area where you can feed and pet baby goats. They have several animal shoes also. They have camels and llamas that you can feed and pet. The eating area was pretty crowded but the food was good. It was expensive to eat. They don't charge an admission fee but you do have to pay to park. I would highly recommend this attraction as a nice day trip for a family.
