The woolen mill has been around....well forever. There are tons of little shops in here that will wet anyone's appetite for shopping. The rustic atmosphere is characteristic of Cedarburg. The shops tend to be on the expensive side, but they are mostly specialty shops. The winery is in the basement of the mill. If you are visiting Cedarburg, this is a definite must-see.
PROS: Lots of history in this buildling
CONS: shops can be pricey
This cultural center has been around for a good 15 years. There are many different cultural activities offered, to fit any interests one might have. You can call them or watch the paper for upcoming events they will be hosting. They offer great art year round. Events are sometimes pay in advance, but usually the prices are fair.
PROS: Lots of different offerings for different interests
Ozaukee bank has such friendly staff. They work very hard to make sure you are happy with thier services. I like the fact that they are conveniently located all over the Ozaukee area. They are always happy to take the time to meet with you when you need help.
PROS: friendly staff
I grew up bowling at this business. They have great prices. Tons of lanes to bowl from. Conveniently located near Cedarburg and Grafton. A great place to hold parties of any kind. There is a hall that can be rented for receptions or events. There is a concession stand with various options to choose from. Definitely a safe place for kids to bowl. I believe leagues are available.
PROS: great family activity
CONS: smoky in the evenings
I took a few classes here over one summer. Although the school itself is quite old, the history behind the school really makes it a nice place to visit. The staff that I dealt with were all very nice. The professors I had were great teachers and up to date on their knowledge of the courses they taught. I absolutely love the campus as it is right by lake Michigan. You could not ask for a better spot. It's located kind of far from any main stores or restaurants, but I have a feeling that might not be such a bad thing. Overall, it's a great school and I had a great experience with the classes I took.
PROS: Right on the lake, great professors
CONS: a pricey private college
Things have changed over the years, but one fact remains the same, Cedarburg needs a bigger library. The library is great, but it definitely does not rival those of much larger cities...even though Cedarburg has lots of money to put into a bigger and better library. The librarians here are very helpful in finding what you need. There is a children's section which is quite large and separated from the rest of the adult books. There are areas to study or read. It is conveniently located.
PROS: Still has the same quiet atmosphere
CONS: quite small
I used Dr. Schuckit years ago when I needed braces. He has the best bedside manner I have ever seen. His office staff is AMAZING! It was always a pleasant experience when I had an appointment. In fact, I always looked forward to it. The prices, I believe, were good for the area. Given the service provided, I can't imagine any price would be too much. And to add to the experience, I still have straight teeth years later. He has great results!
PROS: wonderful office staff
CONS: can be very busy
The Milwaukee County zoo, in my opinion, is a great zoo to visit. There is a ton to see. I have been to many zoo's throughout the US, and this zoo has a lot to offer. There are many different areas including the primates, the aquarium, the reptiles, the children's zoo area, and tons of outdoor exhibits. There is a train to ride, and a carousel. Lots of concessions. Our family has a membership, and we have gone to many of the night events that the zoo holds. A taste of Milwaukee is a nice food event to attend. The gift shop, of course, is overpriced, but you will be sucked in if you have any children with you. Another place not to miss if you live in the area or are visiting.
PROS: Tons of different exhibits
CONS: overpriced gift shop, food is too.
This is one place that i remember fondly from growing up. It has been around for a LONG time. I have yet to bring my own children here to see how they like it, nor have I been there as a grown adult. I do remember it being very educational as well as so nice and peaceful. The little birds here are very friendly. It would be nice if it was free to get in, but nothing nice is free these days, huh? Christmas time is a really nice time to go and see the special decorations. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting the area or doing "touristy" sight seeing.
PROS: Tons of different plants to admire
CONS: prices are high
They may have a wide selection of things to buy, but their service dept. is just OK in my book. I don't feel they seek out the best mechanics. Definitely have to work your way into a good deal when buying a high ticket item.
PROS: very few
CONS: mechanics are lacking, prices are a bit high
