Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklorico
I took Ballet Folklorico classes here AFTER trying flamenco somewhere else, and let me tell you, it was TOTALLY different! At Roy Lozano's, the instructor slowed down for me if I needed it, and never made me feel as though I had two left feet (which I probably do!) The instructor (Chuy), who is also the artistic director, taught in such a way that everything looked and even felt easy--and if we didn't get it the first time we felt sure we'd eventually get it. Plus, he was so personable--felt like he was a friend and not just a teacher. One of the very best parts, though, was that they offer ADULT beginning classes, so I, (a 30-something mother) didn't have to feel like a clumsy dork dancing with talented 10-year-olds! Will be resuming classes there soon.
PROS: Adult classes, GREAT instructor.
CONS: Wish the adult classes were offered on more than 1 night.
Am/pm Animal Hospital
I chose AM/PM when we came to Austin because I like having an office that I can go to day or night. I can make a routine appointment for 9 pm if I need to, and there is always a friendly and competent veterinarian there. I have also used them during emergencies, and every time I have felt very taken care of. Dr. Parker, one of the veterinarians, is especially personable, and really takes time to listen to problems. Everyone there goes the extra mile to make patients and their owners comfortable.
PROS: Open 24/7, great veterinarians.
CONS: Weird glitch with expiration dates on medicine labels! No biggie!
David M Pruitt Realtors
David Pruitt was our agent when we moved from CA to TX. He took 3 solid days to show us every house in our price range in the area we wanted to live in, and ultimately, chose the house we bought! When we suggested other homes we'd seen on the internet, he knew they were too far away from work to make us happy. He knew Austin like the back of his hand, had an immediate answer to every question about every subject even remotely related to buying a home, and basically just held our hands like a parent. Heck, when he showed up for the closing, he actually remembered that our daughter was crawling when we first met, and was excited that she was already walking. Even months after we bought the house, he was still on top of the selling realtor about getting some of our windows changed out. He has been recommended to multitudes by my husband. You CANNOT go wrong with David Pruitt.
PROS: This man knows it all and he's cool, on top of it!
CONS: No cons!
Novy C Keith Dds
I first saw Dr. Novy when my tooth broke and I wanted it fixed immediately. He was the only dentist who would take me that day. His work was very good, you can't see the repair at all. He is very concerned with his patient's health and works very hard to keep patients happy. I've recommended him to quite a few people.
PROS: Bends over backwards to accommodate patients, good work!
CONS: Doesn't take lots of insurance plans
