If you are looking for collectibles and you find yourself at Seaport Village, make sure you stop by "A Few of My Favorite Things." This store has a lot of great little collectibles, mini sculptures and things that you can buy and take home with you. These are great gifts to give to someone, and all the more special because you thought of them while you are traveling or spending a weekend away.
This flag store at Seaport Village in San Diego is lots of fun, no matter where you are from. You can find flags, shirts, parking signs (i.e. Parking for Italians Only), and other nationalistic merchandise here. This is a great place to find gifts for those who have great pride in their country of origin. Also, if you have kids who are doing a project on a country, this is a good place to pick up flags/stickers, etc. that will spruce up their projects a little.
Southpaw at the Seaport Village in San Diego, CA is such a unique store. They carry gifts and items that are specially made for left-handers. This is truly a left-hander's dream come true. It is cool to see what kind of things left-handers have come up with in order to do the things that we right-handers take for granted. If you have a left-handed family member or friend, or you are yourself left-handed, I am sure you have heard complaints about how "it's a right-hander's world out there." This store is for all of the left-handers in the world (or at least the ones that visit Seaport Village).
Apple Box in Seaport Village is such a great store for getting personalized items. As it becomes the trend more and more to name your children "unique" names, it will be harder for you to find items with their name on it.
Unless you go to Apple Box. They carry a wide variety of wooden toys (growth charts, rocking horses, etc. etc.) that you can have personalized. Everything in this store is of great quality and any child would love to have any of the toys in here... with their name on it so everyone knows it's theirs.
Do you love the nautical theme? Model ships, nautical flags, ships in a bottle, collectibles, etc.? Then this is the store for you. This is a fun little store that provides everything for the nautical lover. And what better place to buy these items then right by the ocean on the San Diego Harbor, in Seaport Village? There are a lot of hard to find items here, and most of these items make great souvineers, to celebrate the importance of water to San Diego. One thing I do not like about the store however, is that it is very dark and very crowded.
Who doesn't love to look at the beauty of crystal? There are beautiful displays of crystal figurines and collectibles everywhere. It is very nice to walk around (carefully) in this store and look at all of the beautiful crystal items. They also carry beautiful brooches and gold-dipped roses that are perfect gifts for the special lady in your life.
I like going to this car wash place because it is the most convenient. It is located in between Harvard and Jamboree on Main. What I like best about this place is the price... they have a coupon (usually every week in the Pennysaver or in the Money Mailer) for a car wash and wax special for $8.99 ($1 more on the weekends, and $1 more for SUV's, Trucks, Vans, etc.). This is a pretty good deal for a hand car wash, especially in Irvine. They tend to get pretty busy during the weekends. Also, you can get a punch card, and after you visit them 10 times, you can get a free "The Works" car wash. I like places that offer loyalty programs like this. One note tough, please be nice to the workers who wash your car and tip them nicely; they are working their butts off for you and I hate it when people are rude to them.
Magnets always come in handy and you can never have too many of them. That is the idea behind the Magnet Max store in the Seaport Village in San Diego. They sell magnets in all shapes and sizes; simple flat magnets that have some funny quote, or shaped magnets in the form of cows, beer bottles, etc. etc. They have talking magnets and magnets that have another functionality (i.e. bottle opener, dishwasher status indicator). This is a fun store to look around in and to shop for your refrigerator's favorite decorative item.
Irvine Suzuki is a great car dealer with a very "small dealer" feel. They know how to treat their customer and how to actually answer questions about the cars. We were able to take a test drive in a Grand Vitara with their new sales manager... and despite the fact that she was only 3 days old on the job, she was able to answer every question we had and take us on a great test drive. If you want a great experience buying a car, head on down to Irvine Suzuki!
Cartel Salon is a great alternative for those who want style and friendliness, but without a huge price. I went to this salon because I found an ad on craigslist where they were advertising a fundraising effort to help the hurricane victims of Katrina. The proceeds from all salon services would be going towards the charity. I thought that this was a great thing for a salon (or anyone) to do, so I decided to go check out their cut-a-thon. The salon is very large and nicely maintained (It had previously been a bank building, I guess). The employees are very professional and friendly. I had a great time getting my haircut and would definitely recommend this place to others who are not only looking for style, but for a friendly place as well.
