The dark chocolate bars are creamy and smooth and worth the price. Try the wicked hot chocolate, which is made with ancho chile peppers and provides a nice warm zing. In the summer, try the frozen hot chocolate. There is a small seating area in the shop, and it does get crowded during the holidays and Valentine's Day.
PROS: excellent chocolate
CONS: can get crowded
This oil provider offers fixed rate oil delivery and a service contract for one year increments. When my heat went out in one zone of my home, they came out and changed a piece- for the wrong zone. Their serviceman came out twice and couldn't figure out what had gone wrong until I figured out that they had changed the wrong piece! Then they billed me for the piece they replaced erroneously and I had to fight to get the charges removed. They also raised the price of the oil before my contract ran out and I had to call to complain. The President of the company is rude and obnoxious and could not see the errors that his company had made without being demeaning. I even had to file a BBB complaint against them and pay someone else to fix the heating problem. Stay away from this company if you do not want to deal with such horrible customer service and unqualified repairmen!
CONS: poor customer service, unqualified repairmen, shoddy business practices
The prices at this gas station are usually one of the lowest on Westchester, and the lowest in this area of Tuckahoe Road. It is convenient if you travel off the Sprain to the Deegan, just get off at the Tuckahoe Road exit instead of Central Avenue. Credit cards are accepted at the pump and there is a small convenience store on site.
Although it can get hectic in this restaurant, it is worth the wait. The vegetarian rolls are fresh and the tofu and vegetable dish is excellent. Staff is diligent and service is fast. The restaurant is clean and the prices are reasonable. Check out their specials. Many Columbia University students frequent this place.
PROS: price, quality of food
CONS: very busy
The food here is prepared fresh all day and tastes great! Try the Sancocho, a thick soup made with a variety of meats and root vegetables. The Cafe con Leche is wonderful. Best of all, the prices are incredibly cheap! A feats for two will cost you less than twenty bucks, and the portions are HUGE! My only complaints are the restaurant's lack of decor, the seating on the second floor can get very hot in the summer, and the restaurant can get very loud.
PROS: cheap and excellent Dominican food
CONS: lack of decor, loud
The selection of frozen foods and the various sauces and condiments and baked goods are worth the trip to this store. They sell a variety of prepared frozen foods. I recommend the meatless meatballs and the vegetable gyozas. The Chipotle salsa and pineapple salsa are great. They have a large variety of dried fruits and nuts as well. The prices are low, compared to what these products would cost at Whole Foods, and most of the products are their own store brand. Parking is plentiful at the Hartsdale location.
PROS: Selection and price of groceries
A lot of people hype about this deli, but I have eaten here a few times and find nothing special about it. The turkey sandwich tastes just like it does anywhere else, the burgers are adequate and the fries are nothing special. The prices are pretty high. This place is OK if you happen to be in the area, but not worth a trip from out of town.
PROS: sandwich variety
CONS: sandwiches taste ok, nothing special
This hotel offered a very nice room with Southwest decor. The room was spacious and had a huge bathroom with nice amenities, and a fridge. Each room has a balcony with a table and chairs. The rooms on the second floor have a view of the mountains. The breakfast was good and consisted of breads, bagels, waffles and various cereals. There is a small fitness room on site. The price was very reasonable, and I felt that for the quality of the hotel this is an excellent value.
PROS: decor, views, size of room
The two hour Broken Arrow tour is a bumpy and fun ride on a jeep through the red rocks in Sedona. You will be amazed at how the jeep climbs rocks and hills without sliding off. The views are incredible, especially if you take an evening tour that ends at sunset. About 6-7 people fit in each jeep. The driver provides background into the area and the history of the rocks. My only complaint is the price- about $216 for two adults and a child, and a tip is expected at the end of the tour.
PROS: Views are great, ride is fun
This supermarket has an excellent variety of products, including international foods. Check out the bakery for excellent artisan breads and the best bagels! They have fresh coffee, lots of cheeses and even prepared foods. This place is a mecca for all the cooks out there. The prices are very reasonable, cheaper than Zabar's for just as good breads and cheeses. For free parking, go to the Harlem location, although the parking lot is tight and hard to navigate. It is very difficult to park near the Upper West Side location, which can also get too crowded due to very narrow aisles.
PROS: variety, prices, fresh groceries
CONS: parking, narrow aisles
