Kings Island is a great place to take the family for a day of fun! They have a wonderful "kiddie land" with lots of fun things for kids of all ages, even the little ones. They have a great water park that is included with your admission to the park, and you could spend the entire day at the water park alone! They have some of the best rollercoasters in the world, including the world famous "The Beast". The also have season oriented activities, including "FearFest" in the Fall, and "Winterfest" during the Winter/Christmas season. The price for a single day admission is pretty high, so if you live in town your best bet is to buy a season pass and really get your moneys worth. If you are just going for the day, there are usually coupons at local grocery stores or banks for discounts. One other downside beside the high admission price is the cost of food and drinks in the park. We always pack a lunch and tailgate at the car. Also, on nice summer days, the park gets very crowded so be prepared to wait in long lines. Avoid the park on "bring a friend" days for season pass holders-- on those days the park sometimes even sells out, and the lines are simply too long.
Esther Price chocolates are absolutely to die for! Their boxes of chocolate make the perfect gift (especially during the holidays). They come packaged just perfectly that you don't even need to wrap them. The chocolate inside is simply wonderful. You can buy the assorted chocolates in boxes of just either milk or dark chocolate, or you can buy a combination box. The chocolate doesn't taste like wax, and isn't plasticy like a lot of boxed chocolates, and the chocolate won't start to "bloom" (get a white coating) after it has sat on your shelf for a few weeks. Their prices are very comparable to the cheaper brands, which don't taste nearly as good. You can't go wrong with Esther Price!
Hobby Lobby does have a huge selection of about anything any crafter could want. If you sew, they have quite an extensive array of fabrics & sewing materials. They always have nice decorations for all the holidays, especially Christmas. What I don't like about them are their over-inflated prices. They are notorious for always having a "40% off" coupon in their flyer, which then brings their prices down to "normal". You just need to really watch what you are buying when you shop here so you don't pay too much.
PROS: Huge selection
CONS: Sky high prices
Jolly's is like a scene right out of "Happy Days"! You place your order right at your car window (even for "to go" orders)- within minutes you're ready to eat! Their rootbeer is the best, and you can even order a gallon (or two) to take home (but beware, it won't stay good for more than a day). Don't forget the free "baby" rootbeer for the kids.. but they are VERY small! Jolly's is the home of the footlong coney, and are they good! While they aren't expensive, they are a bit over-priced considering the amount of food you get. Nonetheless, it's not bad enough to keep me from not going!
What an absolutely gorgeous place! My husband and I decided to make the trip to Bern's last summer after seeing it advertised on the television. It was a bit of a drive for us, taking 45 minutes to get there, but it was so worth it! They have absolutely any flower, plant, vegetable, or herb that you could ever want! The rows are nicely spaced apart so you're not fighting with the crowd to look for things, which was good because the day we were there they were very crowded. Their prices are comparable to other nurseries in the area. The only downside for me is that it's so far out of the way.
PROS: Lots of variety
CONS: Depending on where you live, it's a little in the middle of nowhere
I visited The Bead Shop last year with a bracelet that I needed to have added onto (this is a mother's bracelet & I needed to have my second child's name added). I took the bracelet in with every intention of just leaving it there and paying someone to do it for me. The woman behind the counter told me I could save myself a lot of money if I do it on my own. I told her that I had never made jewelry, but she reassured me that they would help. What a great idea! They were so helpful in helping me match up the beads to my existing bracelet, and even more helpful in helping me put it all together. Not only did I save myself some cash, but I had a great time doing it! I highly recommend this store & I can't say enough good things about it! What a great place to go with a group of friends!
This place is a nice casual place to get together with friends. The prices are very reasonable, with chicken being their specialty. I do, however, wish that their menu would offer a little more variety, as I feel it is a bit limited. This is especially a great place to hang out in the summer on their nice patio, as there aren't a lot of places in our area to enjoy a nice meal outdoors. This is definately a place to check out!
Ron Steger has been doing our taxes for the past 4 years, and we wouldn't trust anyone else to do them! Ron was able to find deductions that we didn't know we could take, and our tax return has been larger having it done with Ron. I'm not sure how his rates compare to other CPA's, but I can tell you that we paid more to have our taxes done at H&R Block! For a personalized and friendly service that is done in the strictest of confidentiality, trust Ron Steger for all your accounting needs. I have personally recommended several friends to see him!
EDB's Diamond Showroom is an A+ jewelry store! My husband bought my engagement ring and our wedding rings from Eddie (the owner of EDB's), and he was given the royal treatment. He was very helpful, and my husband found exactly what he was looking for the most important jewelry purchase! When it came to picking out our wedding rings, we sat down an designed exactly what we wanted. We will always return for any jewelry needs, including repairs. In the heart of downtown Montgomery, EDB's is close to everyone!
Stepping into Gary's Barber Shop is just like stepping back in time! It's a wonderful little shop that can even boast of the fact that they used to cut George Clooney's hair as a child! They are exremely patient with young children, and especially with our son who has autism. Make sure to take your check book or cash, because they don't take credit or debit cards here! Even the cash register looks like it's older than Gary himself! For a real hometown feel, make sure to stop buy Gary's for a good cut (at a reasonable price, too!)
