This place is more than just frozen custard! They have family dinners at great prices (try the fried and roasted chicken.) and the green beans and smashed potatoes are very tasty. We didn't care for the ribs (sauce was good, ribs just weren't great).
If you like gooey butter cake, this is the place to get it! They have a ton of varieties available and they are really good. And of course, their frozen custard is great too- it's not Ted Drewes but it'll do in a pinch!
The service at this restaurant is unsurpassed! They are fast, efficient and courteous! The food is great too. Don't miss the Burrito Jalisco! Monday night is $1.99 margarita night and they are really good. A family of four can easily eat here for about $20 and leave absolutely stuffed. Look for coupons on area supermarket receipts or in local mailers.
It's a fun place to go for birthdays, they put a sombrero on your head, sing to you in Spanish and then give you a free dessert! Just tell the host that it's your birthday.
This new business in south county (Dierberg's plaza) has the best hours! They are open until 10 pm Monday-Friday and on Saturday and Sunday until 6pm. They have an introductory offer available for $39 for a one hour massage. If you enjoy massages but don't have the time available during the day to hang out in a day spa, this place is your answer! It has a relaxed and pleasant ambiance. Professional (licensed) therapists and a friendly office staff.
Give them a try, for $39, you can't get a better massage in South County!
My kids are currently taking gymnastics at Barrons. I've been very happy with the attentiveness of the staff and the skills that they've demonstrated with the kids. They have lots of options for class times and work with families to try to get their kids in classes at the same or similar times.
The facility is very large and it can be a bit hectic before and after classes in the small lobby so be sure to go prepared for that. Their prices seem fair- it would be nice if there was a deeper discount for 2nd children or 2nd classes.
They do offer some birthday party and scout party options so if that's something you are interested in, ask at the desk.
The Humane Society of Missouri has done a great job of making adopting a pet an easy experience while educating the new pet owners on responsible ownership. All animals from the Humane Society are spayed or neutered AND microchipped. This is a very important requirement since tags can get lost or become illegible and a microchip will protect your pet for its entire life. Their adoption area is clean, well lit and there are plenty of staff who can help you choose the perfect pet for your family. Do take advantage of any offers for Puppy Kinidergarten or other training. It's important to make sure that your pet learns basic commands as soon as possible.
We bought our Durango from Brad at Lucas- Smith Dodge. What a pleasant experience! Brad was helpful in finding a vehicle that met our needs and budget and went out of his way to be helpful and make us satisfied. The service department is FAST with oil changes- be sure to call to make sure they aren't overrun with other repairs but I' ve never waited more than 30 minutes for an oil change. Any time our vehicle needed to be kept for additional work, they worked with us to get us a loaner vehicle. Great experience, friendly dealership. They've found a loyal customer.
I've been using I-55 for years for my automotive service needs. The mechanics are honest and fair. They give you a good estimate for the work and let you know if they find other problems. The shop is small and their gas is a bit higher than other places you'll find in the area, but if you need service when visiting the city- I-55 is great.
PROS: Good location- right on the highway
CONS: small shop, no waiting room.
I visited Viviano's for the first time today and was incredibly impressed by the selection and prices of their groceries. If you need good olive oil, don't go to the Hill, stop by Viviano's. Make sure you check out their refrigerator- everything you need to make a quick dinner is right there- pizza shells, provel cheese, pepperoni, sauce, pasta and at reasonable prices.
I bought 10 small pizza shells for $9.99 we can add our favorite toppings and we have at least 3 meals for our family of 4!
PROS: good prices, nice selection
CONS: out of the way location near 141 and 30
Flowerama always has great looking, incredibly long lasting flowers available at a very reasonable price.
If you need a little something to bring to a hostess, stop in here and grab a nice bouquet. Except for maybe the day before Valentine's Day, you can find something really attractive for under $10.
My last mixed bouquet from Flowerama still looked perfect more than a week after I bought it!
Don't miss this little gem in South St. Louis (under the shadow of the brewery!). Gus' has terrific pretzels and great sandwiches (bratwurst, italian sausage or hot dogs wrapped in pretzel dough!) The kids love to watch them make pretzels through the big window.
Be sure to try the new pretzel ends- 15 for $1.50 and they are great to share!
