Boeson's is a class act. They are the epitome of professional, whether you are getting married, buying flowers for a friend, or have to send flowers to a funeral. Several times they handled my order when I lived out of state and when I saw what I had sent (at the funerals, unfortunately), it was better than I could have imagined. They simply have taste and class.
The prices are average, but the service is exceptional.
PROS: Good prices, great service
Ted's is an institution. If you haven't had a gyro, let it be known it's pronounced "yee-roo". Now go get one. The dinner baskets are a bit on the pricey side, but you get a great meal and a ton of food. A gyro platter with fries AND onion rings and coleslaw is around $7.00, but you can easily share.
Great food and friendly faces.
PROS: Best gyro in town!
Centro has gone downhill since their initial chef left. The wine list is still good, but the food and service are lacking. The last two times I've been in, I've been ignored by whatever snooting bartender was on duty.
Our anniversary was a sham - it was a Sunday night (so their normal kitchen crew probably had the night off) and the duck was overdone, the marsala tasted like a salt-lick, and the server didn't make any move to correct the problem when we told her about it. She said, "OK," and left.
This is mainly a place to go if you want to see people vying for dates with money. It's good for people watching, but stick with the simpler food items like the brushetta. That's if you can find your server.
PROS: Fun atmosphere, good location
CONS: Poor service and food.
If you want to really impress a date, this is the place to go. With the dark, romantic surroundings and the out of this world prices, you will definitely set an impression. Unfortunately, she may expect you to continue, and you'd have to be a millionaire to do this restaurant often.
This is where the money plays, and if you want to see the power brokers of this fair city, 801 is the place.
The steaks are amazing, as they should be for the price. Check out their summer deals if you are light of wallet--they make a great -and affordable- steak sandwich.
PROS: Amazing atmosphere
CONS: Cigar smokers, can be loud on Friday nights
Spaghetti Works is a fantastic place to take the family. The menu items are mostly pasta (hence the name) but you can choose your noodles and your sauce. The beer and cheese is great, as is the puttanesca. I'd recommend going half and half on the sauces so you get a variety.
It's a bit loud and boisterous, but that's okay because your kids will blend right in with the din. The prices are inexpensive and sometimes they are in the Entertainment Book to make it even more inexpensive.
A great salad bar, fast service, and fun atmosphere.
PROS: Kid Friendly, good staff, cheap prices
CONS: A bit loud, can get crowded on weeknights after work.
Unfortunately for us all, Dr. Remer has retired. He is one of the few OBs in town who is willing to outright care for needs of women. He faced the fire as others hid.
PROS: Great doctor. Stands up for women's healthcare issues
Hairy Mary's is a great place, but the trim you are going to find isn't going to be for your hair...This is an alternative bar where you can find some of the best up and comers.
PROS: Great Music
CONS: No Haircuts or licensed cosmetologists
Dr. Harmon is the most honest and forthright vet in town. He has taken care of my family's animals for almost 20 years - from the day we brought them in as pups until he helped us through a euthanasia.
He tells it like it is - this is no-frills veterinary care. He wants the best for you and your animal, and is gentle with you if it is time to say goodbye. I have never once felt as though I was being pushed into a decision.
He is friendly, as is his staff. I wouldn't go to anyone else.
PROS: Comparatively inexpensive, great staff,
CONS: Small practice, can be hard to locate if you are unfamiliar with area
This restaurant has great decor and is a rather romantic setting, but the portion sizes match the prices--HUGE! A standard well drink will put you back about $7.00, and an appetizer runs from 7-16 dollars. The food is mediocre at best--the menu descriptions don't give you a solid idea of what you are buying. Best bet? Split a burger. It is a veritable side of beef, but the best thing we've gotten there.
CONS: Food and prices
