Stephen E. Glick, DDS
I love this dentist. It is close to home, the staff was nice, and the dentist was great. I hope to continue to have such a great experience. He is a little higher in price than some other dentists that I have been to (have to pay a few dollars more for fillings, etc) but I would go back because they are so good. The office was clean, it looked state-of-the-art. This office has the most updated equipment I have seen in a dentist office. Very knowledgable about the different insurances, and they took care of everything.
PROS: State of the art equipment
CONS: A little more pricey than some other local dentists, but worth a littlemore
Panera Bread
Panera bakes fresh bread and pastries daily. They have a wide selection of soups and sandwiches, and they have an awesome variety of other things to choose from such as hot chocolate in the winter and smoothies in the summer! I would highly recommend this place even for picky eaters because everyone is bound to find something. This is a great place to sit and chat. They have free wifi, comfy lounge chairs and sofas, and even a fireplace. Very clean, you bus the table yourself, but sometimes people will come do it for you when they are slow. Fair price- might be a bit high if you are looking for a standard place to eat.
PROS: Huge Variety!!
CONS: Have more time to eat if around lunch time! Very busy, but fast!
Tanglewood Ordinary Restaurant
Tanglewood Ordinary looks like a very cute place to eat. It is rustic on the outside and inside- like a little log cabin. It is family style dining. They bring everything out in big bowls that you share with everyone at your table (you generally do not have to sit with people you don't know). It is all you can eat, and runs about $14 per person. This does not include dessert, and refills on SODA are NOT free, but it is free for those who get TEA. They do not advertise this, so you must ask yourself if you think this odd. Usually it is the other way around, so it was a surprise for us when we got our bill. Dessert is not included and runs about $5 per dish. It was the best part of the meal however. Food took a long time to get out to us and then it got cold really fast.
I have been trying to get a hold of the people who run this place for three months now. I ate here for my boyfriend's birthday on SEPTEMBER 29th, and they still have not taken out the check. The last time I was able to actually talk to someone about this, they said that it may have been misplaced or they just haven't cashed it yet. This was THREE MONTHS ago!! According to the bank, I have no recourse because a personal check never expires. If you eat here, make sure to pay with CASH!!! BTW, they are also listed in the paper as for sale.
PROS: Nice atmosphere, very country.
CONS: Never cashed my check from 3 mo. ago- pay in cash if you go!
Super King Buffet
I was a little disappointed with this place. I expected better quality food and not the mass produced stuff they actually have there. It was descent, an ok value for your money, but I won't go there again. I think you are paying for the variety they are providing the customer, not the quality of food. It was a little dirty, but it does have interesting decor inside. Lunch is more affordable than dinner, so I would recommend people going to lunch first to see if they like it and would want to spend the extra $5 for the same meal but at dinner time.
Fuddruckers
I think the burgers at Fuddruckers are actually very overrated. Everything is pretty much a la carte, and it is pretty expensive. I like the atmosphere- it has a kid friendly feel, there is a nice bakery area with some yummy foods, but it is a lot to pay for an average meal. The service feels rushed- you can expect the same quality of service from your average McDonalds here as well. The parking lot is a little small and sometimes it is difficult to get in and out of the area because it is right off of Parham Rd. The chicken is ok, the toppings are fresh that you put on at the toppings bar. The milkshakes are worth the price- they are very yummy and you get a lot. Try the Oreo shake!!
PROS: Good Milkshakes
CONS: Not very friendly, and expensive
The Melting Pot-Richmond
I love fondue and have had many experiences with it, and this is by far one of the best. The selection is superb, they have something for almost every budget, you just have to be selective. The atmosphere is very cozy. It is a great place for a romantic dinner. I would say that it is really too expensive for a regular date. With wine, this place can easily cost more than $150. They have the menu broken down into a la carte, or you can purchase meals for two, four or other. The meal for two that includes entree and dessert is about $80 for the two people. This does not include wine. It is a little hard to find if you are not familiar with the Gayton Crossing area. It is back behind the main area where Kroger is located (it is where the OLD wachovia building is). Lots of parking. If you want to go for a romantic evening on a holiday, make sure you call and make reservations weeks (maybe even a month or two) in advance. They book up quickly during these times.
PROS: Great food and service
CONS: Expensive for the every day dinner and books up quickly on holidays
Gelati Celesti Ice Cream
They have the best gelati! They always have new flavors every day and they have some old favorites. Their prices are good and they have prompt friendly service. I would highly recommend. It is kind of in an out-of-the way area, but that just means there is plenty of parking, and you never have to wait in line for very long. It seems very family friendly and they have tables set up inside for you to eat your gelati when it is cold or raining outside. It is very clean inside.
PROS: Many different flavors every day
CONS: Can't guarentee that they will make your flavor that day
VCA Pets First Animal Hospital
This vet office is off of Staples Mill. They were very attentive in caring for my animals- the staff knows what they are doing, and they allowed me to go back with my cat while they were looking at him and flushing his ears out and everything. They could tell that I was a nervous pet owner and they let me be in on everything. The office was clean, the staff professional, and there is always enough parking. They have good hours for people who work 9-5pm. Office visits are $35 which is a lot, but it seems to be on par with a lot of other offices around Richmond.
