Jeff Iddings is a class act. Not only is he a qualified lawyer, but he is also a well known person in the community. He is very involved in community service events and has volunteered many hours of his time to the community. To me, this makes him a better person. However, he's a pretty darn good lawyer too! He has helped me with 2 refinancings of my home and is very easy to work with. He doesn't work in a partner firm and you can always get in touch with him. If I ever need to refinance again or decide to purchase a new home, I'll definately give Jeff a call.
Archdale Pediatrics is a fairly new office. And they are partnered with Thomasville Pediatrics. There are about 16 doctors in the network that rotate between both locations. But based on my experiences, the staff at Archdale are not as friendly or knowledgeable as the Thomasville staff. It is very hard to get thru when you call. There have even been times when I have called after hours and the roll-over message was not switched on and I would technically be on hold, even when the office was not open. The doctor care is great.... I love the doctors. But I prefer to make the drive to Thomasville instead of the Archdale office.
PROS: Large network of doctors.
Need some legal help? Mike is your man. He does real estate law, but also divorce law. I have only needed his assistance for real estate closings. But he is extremely knowledgeable, efficient and affordable. And on top of that.... he is very funny! He is also a county commissioner, so he has a vested interest in the community. He has assisted me in legal needs on 3 seperate occasions and I have been highly satisfied each time.
Dr. Ashley at Jordan Veterinary Hospital is a great vet. And he has a great network of doctors surrounding him. We have had 3 different emergency situations with our animals and every time, they are helpful, professional, compassionate and supportive. The entire staff is very good to work with. Out biggest emergency was when our basset/beagle mix got run over and had 2 broken legs. Most people would have probably had the animal put to sleep. Dr. Ashley talked with the 2 other doctors in the Davidson network and found out that the injuries were not life threatening. And he connected us with a surgeon that was about half the price of the specialist in Greensboro. Today, 1 1/2 years later, our doggie is a happy, healthy doggie, thanks to Dr. Ashley and his staff!
PROS: Very personable and compassionate.
There is a saying in Lexington, 'If you need something and they don't have it a Lanier Hardware...then you didn't really need it!' This is a place where you can find absolutely anything you need for anything you need to fix! And if they don't have it, they will get it. I don't care if you need a washer or bolt for a mower you bought 20 years ago.... you can probably find it there. And they are not just a hardware store. They are much more than that. They have everything from Pfaltzgraff dishes, a wedding registry, a stationary and home office section, small home appliances, sporting goods, all of your standard hardware store selections and many, many more! The best part is that the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's hard to find that these days. You can hardly walk by any row in any department without someone asking you if they can help you. And if you do ask for help, they actually know the answer or find it out for you. Lanier Hardware is still family owned and operated and a rare find in todays mega-store society!
PROS: Friendly & KNOWLEDGEABLE staff!!
CONS: Closed on Sundays, except at Christmas.
Emaline Brook is a nice store out in the country in Lexington. But surprisingly it is not a country store! It's a specialty store. They have a retail section of some really unique and interesting things. This is the perfect place to shop when you need to buy a gift for someone that you don't have any idea what to get them. And the staff is really helpful in suggesting ideas. Not only is there a retail store, but they make the most unbelievable gift baskets and gift bags you can imagine. I have given many gifts from Emaline, as well as received! And their baskets, gifts and store items offer a variety for any occasion.... wedding, babies, children, collectors, jewelry, bath and body, etc. They have everything! Check them out.
PROS: Wide selection of items to choose from.
CONS: Store closes at 5:30 each day.
John Herron is a fantastic florist with a million ideas! I went in for my consultation for my wedding and told him a few of the flower types that I wanted.... and whamo! He painted this visual picture for me that I could have never imagined. And he made my special day a fairytale come true. You can look at pictures of his work in his shop, but they can't do the reality justice. My bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets were the most beautiful things I had ever seen. And of course, all of the other flowers were just as gorgeous. And my mom did all of the decorating at the reception. Herron House allowed her to use their vendors at no charge! I highly recommend this business based on service, price and quality.
PROS: High quality, good price
Mike Rowe knows how to capture the best side of people in his pictures. He was formerly a school teacher who is now a photographer. His ability to communicate with the children makes for fantastic pictures. He is great with children of all ages. We had family pictures made with a 6 week old baby and 5 year old child. He managed to capture all the children and the adults in the most flattering of situations.... which is no easy feat for the little ones!! And his prices are really competitive. We were able to buy enough pictures for everyone as Christmas gifts without having to remortgage the house!
PROS: Affordable, Professional and timely.
What a disappointment it was to me when Dr. Temas told me that he would not perfom lasik surgery on me. I was so looking forward to the procedure and to be able to see when I woke up in the mornings. But after careful analysis, he told me that he did not recommend the procedure for me. There was another experimental procedure that would be better for my situation. He told me that if he were my brother, that he would tell me that LASIK was not a good idea for my conditions. He told me that I could go somewhere else and many other doctors would perform the procedure on me, but his high recommendation was to not do it. It was not the answer I wanted, but what I really appriciated was his honesty and integrity to be up front with me. To me, this makes a quality doctor with real compassion for doing what is right... not to just earn another dollar.
PROS: Very knowledgable, Pioneer in the technology
Having a new baby makes a person do crazy things.... like calling the doctor for every little thing! But at Thomasville Pediatrics, that's not a problem. There are more than 15 doctors in the practice. And the place is run like clockwork. It doesn't matter when you call or why you call, they always have time to help you or rest your concerns. They even have extended office hours until 8:00 pm Mon-Fri and Saturday mornings! Don't we all know that the children are rarely sick during the normal 8-5 time frame?!? So, with the extended hours and the level of service, it is worth it's weight in gold for me to drive the extra 15 miles to this office.
PROS: Long hours, Very friendly and compassionate staff!
