Meijer
Meijer is worth the extra couple of pennies you'll pay compared to a visit at Wal-Mart. The produce is always fresh and in good shape. There is a better meat selection as well as bakery. I think that everything Meijer offers in comparison to Wal-Mart is of higher quality.
Target
I like Target for all the baby products. They have a great selection of everything a new mom would need at a reasonable price. The prices are usually just a bit over Wal-Marts prices, but I'd gladly pay the extra bucks at Target. I also love their housewares and all the goodies for the home. They have very stylish pieces that you'd pay a fortune for at a high-end store.
Wal Mart
Wal-Mart has such low cost products because the products are of less quality than it's competitors and the employees are also low-grade. The customer service at Wal-Mart is awful, it seems every employee hates their job and takes it out on the customers. The produce is always near-rotten. If you're looking for cheap, low quality products, Wal-Mart is your place.
Midas Auto Svc Experts
I took my car to Midas and specifically stated I wanted my brakes checked and an oil change with synthetic oil. After the clerk repeated my request, everything was clear. When I came back to pick up my car, I did not receive synthetic oil. I asked them to correct the problem as it was specifically stated, and the mechanic that had to do the job threw a fit. Definitely do not recommend!
PROS:
CONS: Terrible customer service & bad management
El Torro Bravo
Out of the major mexican authentic food restaurants in Champaign, El Torero is by far my favorite. I love their salsa, it's cilantro heaven! The service is always fast and friendly and they have such cheap meal deals and drink deals.
Pita Palace Restaurant
Niros Gyros is about the cheapest place around aside from McDonalds. They have a much larger selection outside of Greek specialty, although their gyros are delish.
PROS: friendly workers
CONS:
Village Inn Pizza Parlor
I recently visited Village Inn Pizza Parlor and enjoyed my visit. It has a family atmosphere and I love the fireplace in the center of the dining area. The pizza was great and not too expensive.
Sonic Drive-In
When I moved to Champaign, Sonic was a completely new experience for me. I love the food and that you can order from your car. Out of all the times I've been there, I've only had one bad experience, but that was just a bad cashier. Their food is great for as cheap as it is.
PROS: Eat in the car!
CONS:
Menards
My boyfriend and I are renovating our house and have been doing most of the shopping at Menards. We've always had exceptional customer service whenever we had questions or problems. An employee told my boyfriend which type of drywall to buy, but it ended up being the wrong size. It had already been cut up, but they still let us return it since it was their mistake. The employees are really good about knowing where their stock is also.
Steak 'N Shake
I went to the steak n shake on Prospect with a friend and we split chili mac and each got a steakburger. When I opened my silverware, it had chili beans over each piece, wet and smeared all over the ends. After I finally got the waitress to quit talking to her friends, she apologized and gave me new silverware. When i took a bite of my steakburger, I thought it smelled funny but I figured it was just me because I was already upset. I made my friend smell it and the bottom bun was soaked in the bleach detergent they clean the dishes in. My plate still had a good amount of bleach on it. I asked for the manager who was a complete idiot and acted like it was no big deal and wanted to make me a new burger, not refund the meal. Never again am I going to any steak n shake with all my bad experiences.
