Persona Grata Photography
My friend had her wedding out in the Hamptons and hired Persona as her photographer. The pictures came out absolutely gorgeous. The weather wasn't that great that day, but somehow, the pictures "hid" any hints of bad weather and definitely made her Big Day a magical memory. The pictures from the reception were just as amazing and consequently, she has so many framed pictures of her wedding around her house simply because she could not choose which ones were the best!
Mandala Yoga & Dance Center
The studio is in Amagansett Square, which has a nice park outside for you to relax before or after. There's plenty of parking, so no worries there. They offer different classes for all levels. I started as a beginner in Yoga and they were very helpful, patient, understanding, and willing instructors. Then, after a couple of classes, I also enrolled in a combination yoga/dance class and thoroughly enjoyed it there. The groups are pretty small, so there's plenty of space and never a "crowd-like" feeling. There are a couple of classes that are tailored to families, allowing children to participate in classes alongside their mom/dad, etc. They evenly space out the classes and offer a nice selection to suit the interests of many. I even got two of my friends to join me and they absolutely love it. I'm looking forward to being in their class again this summer when I go back out.
Boca Hawaii Llc
This isn't just a bike repair/retail shop. They recently expanded the store to include a workout/training room for the classes/groups they have for triathlon, marathon, duathlon training, such as the Tinman and others. The group size is limited, so if you're interested, call ahead and ask about the groups they do offer and when to sign up or be put on the wait list. I joined a group to train for a triathlon and we had workouts twice a week, and the instructors were always on our tails, encouraging us to train harder, gave us many tips and advice on improving our technique and sure enough, my performances at various competitions/races throughout the summer training season improved dramatically. They are very helpful and the instructors are world class athletes who know what they are doing. The classes are for everyone, from beginner to advanced, but don't worry, the "split" up the group according to their level of experience when training, but it still retains a "team-like" environment. The cost is a bit pricey, but it's well worth it, and they are quite reasonable; I didn't have to pay it all up front, but they let me pay any amount when I could, as long as I paid in full by the end. I highly recommend BOCA for those adults out there who want some advice, tips, training, motivation etc. for the many races the island offers throughout the whole year. Although I was only a participant for a Summer group, they do have groups all year round.
Shirokiya
I was never that impressed with the baked goods at Shirokiya although the cakes are "pretty." They have typical donuts, and "gourmet" pastries and danishes such as ham and cheese, egg and ham, black bean, red bean, and other fillings, as well as an assortment of personal size breadlike pizzas. They also usually sell some apple, custard, and pumpkin pies, but I never really thought they were anything spectacular. The muffins are rather small for the price and not that great either. The only thing worth really getting here would be the exquisitely decorated cakes and mini cakes. They aren't exactly the best tasting either, but this bakery is convenient especially to shoppers at ala moana.
Paradise Cafe
This is a small cafe/bakery located right by HPU and near the bus stop at Long's and Ross Dress For Less. When I went to school at HPU, I'd go to Paradise every morning for a scone and a cup of coffee. The scones were always fresh baked in the morning. When I got them, they were warm/hot and crusty, with a buttery crust. One of my favorites from here are the peach and the mango scones. They have different varieties each day, but they all taste really good! The only thing I didn't like about them was that they were a little more buttery/greasy than the scones I usually prefer, and more cakelike on the inside, but nonetheless quite yummy! Oh, they also have muffins and they serve eggs and sandwiches, etc. as well. But the scones are definitely the standout.
Sconees Bakery
These are one of the best scones on the island no doubt. They are perfectly made with a crunchy "shell" and soft and moist on the inside. Before I found this place, I was so disappointed with the scones I bought from the supermarket or other bakeries. Now, this is the only place I get scones from. My favorite is the chocolate chip, although they have other flavors such as blueberry, lemon, currant, mango, and other innovative flavors. They also come in two sizes, either small or large. The best time to go of course, is in the morning, and they also sell day old scones for half price.
Napoleon's Bakery
This is the place to go if you're looking for that morning "treat" you want to get for your coworkers. They've got a good selection of donuts and pastries, such as turnovers, cinnamon buns, bread pudding, etc. I love the flaky sugar coated pastry and my boyfriend always asks me to get the pianomo rolls from there. Other than that, the pies and cakes are nothing fancy, but kind of similar to what you can get at Foodland or Safeway. The baked items don't really taste like they're "homemade" but kind of have a "supermarket" or "mass produced" kind of quality/feel to them. This is the place to go when it's the last minute and you want to stop in some place quick, relatively inexpensive, and reliable.
Dee Lite Bakery
Whenever I am to go over a friend's house for a party, dinner, get-together, etc., getting a chiffon cake from dee lite is an absolute necessity and the perfect excuse! There's usually plenty of parking and the cakes are simply gorgeous and taste even better! The chiffon cakes are so light but tasty and just melt in your mouth! My favorite is the coconut chiffon, but they have other varieties as well. They also have small personal sized cakes, pastries, and baked goodies as well for that drive home from work! This place is a favorite among me and my friends! Try this place and you'll be going back for more!
McHale J P Pest Management Incorporated
I have always used McHale for pest control in and around my house and have never been disatisfied with the service. However, there have been several times where ants would continue to invade my house despite having mchale spray around the house. This happened this past spring and we called them to come back, and he did...but the ants are still coming in, although at smaller "populations" than before. Nevertheless, overall, I'm a satisfied customer and am happy with the service I have gotten from them for all these years. Very reliable and efficient.
Revco Electrical Supply Inc
I had renovated my house several years ago and did some landscaping this past spring. I wanted some outdoor lights and was referred to Revco and was completely satisfied with the job they did. They also did some rooms inside my house as well. They have a broad selection of outdoor and indoor lights and it was so hard for us to choose what we wanted! But they were very helpful and they helped us pick out the perfect ones to accompany the size and style of our house and yard. We also had a slight problem with one of our lights, but they came right away to fix it and we've never had any problems since.
